Ultimately, Kansas City covets winning the Super Bowl most, but that’s not possible without a postseason berth and winning the division is the path of least resistance into the playoffs.

If there’s a reason for concern, it surrounds Kansas City’s depth at cornerback.
The Chiefs’ top cornerback, Charvarius Ward, will miss Sunday’s game after suffering a broken left hand in the season-opening beatdown of the Houston Texans.
Kansas City’s other starting outside corner, Bashaud Breeland, is serving a four-game suspension to start the season, leaving rookie L’Jarius Sneed and second-year corner Rashad Fenton as the likely starters with offseason free-agent addition Antonio Hamilton mixing in as needed.

Braxton Hoyett was elevated from the practice squad Saturday to take Saunders’ spot on the roster. He and undrafted rookie Tershawn Wharton are the only backup tackles behind Chris Jones and Derrick Nnadi.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes didn’t light up the scoreboard with deep throws and a lot of yards, but he was efficient and effective in a three-touchdown performance.
Overall, the Chiefs played very well — and claimed a big win — especially considering the disjointed offseason and lack of preseason games.
But perhaps the biggest takeaway and teachable moment from the opener involved the need to keep Reid’s face shield from fogging up in the Southern California humidity during Week 2.
It was a big week for the Chiefs off the field too with Mahomes celebrating his 25th birthday — and stumping for a high school kid, Arland Bruce IV, to get a chance to play in Iowa.

More good news came when the league announced that no players or coaches involved in the Sept. 10 Chiefs-Texans game had tested positive for COVID-19.
However, one fan among the nearly 16,000 at Arrowhead Stadium for the opener tested positive for the coronavirus, forcing 10 others into quarantine.

The Chiefs said a protocol violation allowed the fan to attend the game in a suite and the Kansas City, Missouri, Health Department is investigating the exposure.
The Chiefs’ next home game isn’t until Oct. 4 against New England.
No fans will be allowed at SoFi Stadium for the Chiefs-Chargers game on Sunday.
