First of all, there needs to a detailed, predictable, and consistent maintenance schedule. Look to the service manual for the recommended length and frequency of maintenance periods. This includes replacing the oil every 5,000 miles and changing the filter at the same point.

Routine maintenance, when followed properly, can also prevent problems and also save the rider money by coming in only when maintenance is needed instead of sporadically and more frequently when problems arise, and repair is often more costly than preventative maintenance would have been.

Further, inferior components are often unhelpful and not worth the money. By “inferior components,” that means parts not sold from Ducati-certified parts shops. Avoid using them when possible for the overall health and longevity of the engine. Ducati rigorously tests recommended, high-performance parts and the inferior components do not receive the benefit of this testing. Yes, the certified parts are more costly, but the higher quality results in a better bargain in the end.

Most riders have an easy time figuring out the dashboard of the Ducati 797, thanks to its intuitive layout. Ducati claims their goal with the 797 was to make it “super approachable and unintimidating –'undemanding fun'”, according to motorcycle.com. This was done mainly to compete with the Triumph Street Twin, released around the same time.

Ducati hasn't always made their bikes so user-friendly; the Monster 1200 certainly wasn't. The Monster 798 was a good beginner bike, however, and beginners also favored Ducati's Dual Sport, too. The Monster 937 coming out in 2021 is also planned to be more user-friendly.

With that goal in mind, Ducati made their seats more comfortable and lower, only 31.7 inches from the ground. It's more compact overall, with controls and levels easily available and reachable. Maneuverability becomes more smooth thanks to a steering lock and a responsive and user-friendly handlebar. Good fuel can ensure smoother power delivery, helped by two fuel injectors located directly under the 50mm throttle butterfly.

Braking System Is Well-Developed

When it comes to Ducati's Monster 797, riders feel like they have more control thanks to the braking system being very thorough and responsive. Safety took center focus here, though the braking system also aims to give high performance once safety is assured.

The Brembo braking system comes standard for the Monster 797, featuring an internal pressure sensor from the Bosch 9.1 P ABS. A Brembo caliper also showcases a 245 mm disc in the rear, allowing for high-performance, superior, increased braking efficiency.

As for the front, there's a Brembo Monobloc M4-32-4 piston caliper and two radially-mounted 320 mm diameter discs performing in tandem. An axial brake pump and an integrated oil tank are also featured, helping to give the overall system smoothness and fluidity when activated.

Wheels Are Durable And Lightweight

The wheels aren't heavy and they can withstand serious wear and tear, making it easier for entry-level riders to experiment with motorcycle driving. Ducati decided to craft these wheels from a durable, lightweight alloy with a 10-spoke design.

Further, there's enhanced patch technology on the Pirelli tires to achieve maximum tire contact with the road. Ducati was also very specific about which tires they would use for the 797, giving the front a 120/70 ZR17 tire and the rear a 180/55 ZR17 tire.

These tires also have a certain tread design to allow for optimal performance and safe riding on wet roads. On top of that, there's a specially-designed clutch that keeps the motorcycle from hopping during downshifting by limiting power torque to the rear wheel.
