Property damage, Falls Road: An officer on patrol March 9 saw that someone knocked down and ran over the “do not enter” sign posted at North Street with a vehicle. The culprit was long gone. Police notified the service department to make repairs and replace it.
Identity theft, South Main Street:
Someone filed a fraudulent unemployment compensation claim using a woman’s information sometime before March 3. She learned of it through her employer. The state department of Job and Family Services and the credit reporting bureaus were notified of the false claim. A Bell Tower man, 67, also filed a police report March 6 after learning someone used his information to file for unemployment benefits.
Found property, May Court:
Someone left a billiards cue in a man’s backyard. He turned it over to police March 6. The owner can identify it and retrieve it from the police station.
Property damage, West Orange Street: While on patrol 2 a.m. March 4, an officer found a speed limit sign damaged. The sign was turned over to the street department and will be replaced.
Found property, Bell Street:
After finding an earbud device March 5 on the sidewalk, a woman gave it to police. The owner can identify it and claim it at the police station.
Fraud, North Street:
Someone opened a fraudulent cell phone account using a man’s information sometime before March 5. The victim, 57, learned of it after receiving a collection call from the service provider. He filed a police report and contacted the credit reporting bureaus.
