Farmington Hills-based Plum Market has opened the doors of a Plum Market Kitchen located in Cleveland. The 12,000-square-foot urban market concept features natural, organic, and locally sourced food, beverages, and wellness items.
The location, which is in the University Circle neighborhood near Case Western Reserve University, was opened in partnership with California’s Bon Appétit Management Co., a restaurant company operating cafés in 33 states for corporations, universities, and museums.
“The addition of Plum Market Kitchen to the Uptown retail district brings an innovative, health-conscious grocery and dining operation to serve the university’s faculty, staff, and students as well as the University Circle community,” says Richard Jamieson, vice president for campus services at Case Western Reserve. “This new operation, made possible through our strong partnership with Bon Appétit, will provide an excellent dining venue while meeting the vital grocery needs of area shoppers.”
Plum Market offers packaged snacks, frozen items, artisan baked goods, and specialty candies. Its grab and go foods include hot meals, salad, sushi, soup, and made-to-order sandwiches. Plum Market Kitchen’s menu items are created on site by a Bon Appétit executive chef and culinary staff.
The new location also offers vitamins and supplements, natural skin and body care, locally crafted goods, and a full-service coffee bar.
Plum Market has locations planned for Washington, D.C., Hollywood, and the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. It currently operates local stores in Bloomfield Township,
Plum Market has locations in Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana and offers a selection of groceries, wine and beer, and wellness items. Its locations include full-service grocery stores, urban-store concepts, and cafeteria partnerships. It has found a niche among college towns including in Rochester Hills, where Oakland University is based, and at Indianapolis’ Butler University.
Other area Plum Markets are located in Bloomfield Township, West Bloomfield Township, Dearborn, Romulus, Detroit (2), and Ann Arbor (2).
