A pair of robbers in Pakistan apparently had a change of heart after their victim broke down in tears. A video that is being widely circulated online shows the robbers returning the valuables they had stolen from a food delivery man and even consoling him with a hug as he broke down after the theft. According to Geo News, the bizarre but heartwarming incident occurred in Karachi - the capital of the Pakistani province of Sindh. CCTV footage that has gone viral shows the food delivery man - an employee of a popular food delivery platform in the country - walking up to his parked bike after making a delivery. The footage shows two robbers pulling up next to him on their own bike. The robbers first tried to intimidate their target, reports Gulf News. While one got off the bike and tried to wrest his valuables from him, the other was seen keeping watch during the mugging attempt. However, the delivery man reportedly broke down during the robbery attempt, heartbroken at the loss of his hard-earned money. Seeing this, the robbers had a change of heart and were filmed returning his things to him instead of fleeing. They were even seen hugging him and shaking his hand in an attempt to console him before driving away. The video of this uniquely unsuccessful robbery has gone viral on social media since it emerged a few days ago, collecting thousands of views and comments. Watch it below:

The short version, if we're reading this correctly: a fiber-optic circuit failed, and its backup circuit also failed, which caused a chain reaction that strained the network to the point that many calls and texts couldn't make it through. Meanwhile, England team-mate Sterling voiced his support of the anti-racism protests that have spread across the United States and Europe following the death of unarmed black man George Floyd in police custody in the U.S. Both players have won praise for their using status to speak out and the Manchester City manager hit back at people that insist they should stick to talking about sport. "Because maybe these stupid people don't believe you are human beings too," Guardiola said of the critics ahead of City's first game in three months against Arsenal on Wednesday night. "We can have an opinion the same as a nurse, a doctor or even a politician. What we are, we are humans and why shouldn't we say our opinion when you believe you can make a better society, when you are public. EIGHT IN A ROW Bayern's dominance reached a new peak as they extended their streak to eight successive Bundesliga triumphs. A record 30th title looked in doubt back in the European autumn as they stuttered, but they have sauntered to glory with two games to spare. | Rural India, the new viral flash point - The Hindu Posted: 16 Jun 2020 09:47 PM PDT The initial misplaced optimism that India is somehow protected from the COVID-19 pandemic has proved to be illusory, with rapidly escalating numbers of cases and deaths in urban India. The urban blight is so intense as to occupy the entire attention of the health-care workforce, planners and policy makers. The medical services in these urban areas — Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai to cite the three major epicentres of the epidemic — have been overwhelmed, judging from the reports available every day in the public domain. Clearly unpreparedWe are now facing only the fury of the urban wave of this epidemic in India. Remember, 65% of the country's population is rural. They have been relatively underexposed, with very few cases and deaths. Thus, the large, vulnerable majority in rural India is yet to feel the heat of this epidemic. There is a pervasive and false confidence among the general public that, somehow, rural India will escape with minimal casualty. The recent (limited) restoration of public transport and a relaxation of restrictions on the movement of people are developments that have set the stage for the inevitable and even more dangerous wave of this epidemic. Just as importations from other countries through air traffic set the stage for the urban blight, importations from urban to rural India will set the stage for the rural wave. We need to remind ourselves that rural India is clearly unprepared to face this epidemic. Contrasts in health careThere has always been an urban-rural divide in India in health care and education, two vital indices of human development. This deficiency has been very costly not only in terms of rural lives and livelihoods but also overall national wealth creation. If the first urban wave of the COVID-19 tsunami is overwhelming our relatively better urban health-care resources, one can imagine the predicament of rural India with its already deficient health-care resources when it faces the rural epidemic tidal wave. The lockdown of the entire country led to a paralysis of urban and rural life synchronously while the urban and rural waves of this epidemic are clearly asynchronous. The rural wave is just beginning while the urban wave is about to peak. When rural areas were hardly affected we had the lockdown but now that the rural wave is just beginning, paradoxically, we find that rural people are going about without masks or physical distancing, congregating in marketplaces and places of worship. This portends an imminent catastrophe, yet unrecognised and therefore inadequately anticipated for risk-mitigation. Administer the social vaccineNow is the right time to implement the social vaccine, a prophylaxis before the rural spread of the epidemic. A decentralised approach with participation of all stakeholders in each village, taluk and district is the need and potential of the day. The most important step would be to educate rural people with all the tools at our disposal — print, radio, the electronic media, and messages through mobile phones. We need to give them accurate information in simple language to make them clearly understand that their self-protection and the protection of their families are entirely in their hands. Two behaviourial changes are critical — every man, woman and child must wear a cotton cloth mask when out of the home, and observe strict hand hygiene. All elders and any person with a co-morbidity should be cocooned (by reverse quarantine) — all wearing masks when interacting with others even inside homes. It is mortality that we must prevent in this unfair disease for the vulnerable. Proceeding step by stepAt the State and district levels, we need a systematic approach; it must entail blocking urban-rural importations, quarantining those who move from red zone to green, diagnosing and managing clinical COVID-19 syndrome with or without positive PCR test results, and providing field hospitals exclusively for isolating and managing COVID-19 cases (manned by younger, and therefore less vulnerable, medical and nursing teams). Simple clinical diagnostic criteria are available with the writers of this article. At the same time, we need to protect and sustain existing hospitals and primary health centres not to be frequented by COVID-19 patients, but for providing care for all other medical, surgical and obstetric emergencies. Mildly and moderately symptomatic COVID-19 patients should be managed by home isolation, delivering essential and medical supplies at home, and home monitoring of oxygen saturation by readily available portable finger pulse oximeters. Each such patient should be followed up daily by a designated medical professional, who should call over the phone and identify those who need hospitalisation for life-threatening pneumonia. Non-communicable diseases and other common diseases should be handled on a tele-medicine platform manned by experienced and older (age more than 55 years) medical personnel; there should be a follow-up over the mobile phone. This approach will minimise the loss of medical manpower due to COVID-19 at the time when we need them the most. If we are caught napping at this crucial hour, it will be a monumental error for which we can never forgive ourselves. State health administrators and the medical fraternity have the knowledge and skills to tackle the rural wave with courage and wisdom. M.S. (KTTC) -- The Kasson Police Department says the man captured on video yelling at three 19-year-old women has apologized. The women were demonstrating last week Friday at the corner of Mantorville Avenue and Main Street Friday for Black Lives Matter. According to a news release Tuesday evening, the man reached out to the department earlier in the day saying he wanted to apologize to the protesters for his actions. Kasson PD says he asked to meet with the women, and the women agreed. They accepted the man's apology, a productive dialogue ensued and the matter was resolved. The women are not asking for criminal charges to be filed.

On Monday, the COVID-19 multi-ministry task force announced that Phase 2 will begin on Jun 19, with most activities resuming, subject to safe management measures. Retail businesses will be allowed to reopen and customers may dine at restaurants, although they will have to be in groups of no more than five people. Tables must also be spaced a metre apart. "I'm definitely looking forward to being able to see our customers and for business to slowly creep back to where we were before," he said. During this time, most outlets have seen a significant drop in revenue, some as much as 80 per cent. Due to its "prime location for island-wide delivery", the Novena outlet saw more sales than before the circuit breaker, said Mr Lee. North Korea's military on Tuesday threatened to move back into zones that were demilitarised under inter-Korean peace agreements as the country continued to dial up pressure on rival South Korea amid stalled nuclear negotiations with the Trump administration. The General Staff of the Korean People's Army said it's reviewing a ruling party recommendation to advance into unspecified border areas that had been demilitarised under agreements with the South, which would "turn the front line into a fortress." The powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un days earlier said the North would demolish a "useless" inter-Korean liaison office in the border town of Kaesong and that she would leave it to the military to come up with the next step of retaliation against the "enemy" South. READ MORE: North Korea threatens South with military action "Our army is keeping a close watch on the current situation in which the (North-South) relations are turning worse and worse, and getting itself fully ready for providing a sure military guarantee to any external measures to be taken by the party and government," said the KPA's General Staff, which is akin to other countries' Joint Chiefs of Staff. 'Action plan' It said it's studying an "action plan for taking measures to make the army advance again into the zones that had been demilitarised under the (North-South) agreement, turn the front line into a fortress and further heighten the military vigilance against (the South)," according to the statement carried by the North's official Korean Central News Agency. While it wasn't immediately clear what actions North Korea's military might take against the South, the North has threatened to abandon a bilateral military agreement reached in 2018 to reduce tensions across the border. The Koreas then committed to jointly take steps to reduce conventional military threats, such as establishing border buffers on ground and sea and no-fly zones. They also removed some front-line guard posts in a symbolic gesture. The North's statement possibly implies that it would no longer respect the buffer zones and that the guard posts would be rebuilt. The North's military also said it would open unspecified areas near the ground border and its southwestern waters so that North Koreans could send anti-South Korea propaganda leaflets to the South, in an apparent tit-for-tat against North Korean defectors and activists floating anti-Pyongyang leaflets across the border. This could potentially create security headaches for the South if North Korean military vessels escort North Korean civilian boats as they approach or cross the countries' disputed western maritime border for leafleting, said Kim Dong-yub, an analyst from Seoul's Institute for Far Eastern Studies and a former South Korean military official. The waters have occasionally been the scene of bloody skirmishes, including a 2010 attack on a South Korean naval ship that killed 46 sailors. The North, which does not recognise the western maritime border drawn unilaterally by the UN at the close of the 1950-53 Korean War, has denied responsibility over the sinking of the Cheonan. Threats to abandon bilateral peace Choi Hyun-soo, spokeswoman of South Korea's Defense Ministry, said the South Korean and US militaries were closely monitoring the North's military and that the inter-Korean military agreement should be kept. Recently announced as her brother's top official on inter-Korean affairs, Kim Yo-jong in recent weeks has repeatedly bashed South Korea over declining bilateral relations and its inability to stop leafleting by defectors and activists. Since Pyongyang condemned leaflet launches, Seoul's unification ministry has filed a police complaint against two defector groups and warned of a "thorough crackdown" against activists. The North has also threatened to abandon bilateral peace agreements reached during Kim Jong-un's three summits with South Korean President Moon Jae-in in 2018, while also expressing frustration over Seoul's unwillingness to defy US-led international sanctions and restart inter-Korean economic cooperation. Moon on Monday called on North Korea to stop raising animosities and return to talks, saying that the rivals must not reverse the peace deals. Some experts say North Korea, which has mobilised people for massive demonstrations condemning defectors, is deliberately censuring the South to rally its public and shift attention away from a worsening economy. Although Kim Jong-un had declared a "frontal breakthrough" against sanctions, experts say the Covid-19 crisis likely thwarted many of his economic goals.
