Liberty sophomore defensive backs Tayvion Land and Kei'Trel Clark announced on Monday that they are entering the transfer portal because of "racial insensitivity displayed by leadership" and "the cultural incompetent within multiple levels of leadership."

Land, a 5-foot-8, 170-pound is a former three-star prospect in the Class of 2019 and was ranked No. 572 overall. He is the highest-ranked player to ever sign with the program. He recorded 23 tackles and one forced fumble during part-time action as a true freshman in 2019.

"My short time spent with the athletic department and most professors at Liberty University was much appreciated as it helped me improve my skills, gain new experiences and meet a diverse group of friends," Land wrote on Twitter. "Unfortunately, due to the racial insensitivity displayed by leadership at Liberty University, I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal and no longer be a student-athlete at Liberty University. I pray that I am able to be provided with a opportunity at a new school that respects my culture and provides a comfortable environment. Bless it! #BLM"

Clark registered 38 tackles, had three tackles for loss and broke up six passes after developing into a starter as a true freshman in 2019. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound native of Richmond, Virginia played in all 13 games last season.

"I have decided to enter my  name into the transfer portal and I will no longer be attending Liberty University," Clark wrote on Twitter. "This decision has been well thought out and prayed on. This decision is simply bigger than football or the program. The program, staff, and teammates were a complete blessing to my life. Over this year I have developed relationships that I will forever cherish and bonds that will not be broken. However due to the cultural incompetent within multiple levels of leadership, it does not line up with my code of ethics. So therefore I had to do what I felt like was right in my heart and I pray that you support me and pray for me as I find a new home to further my education and football career. Thank you! #BLM"

It is unclear what Land and Clark are specifically referring to regarding Liberty's racial insensitivity and leadership structure. CBS Sports has reached out to Liberty coach Hugh Freeze for comment on the matter.
