Portugal defeated Sweden 2-0 Tuesday in a UEFA Nations League A - Group 3 match.

Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo found the net in the 45th and 72nd minutes at the Friends Arena in Stockholm as Portugal moved to six points to lead the group.

His latest goals took him to 101 international goals for Portugal and he joined retired Iranian player Ali Daei, who bagged 109 goals during his playing career.

Meanwhile, Sweden's Gustav Svensson was sent off after receiving a red card in the 44th minute.

France beat Croatia in Saint-Denis

Croatia's national team was beaten by France 4-2 in the other Group 3 match at the Stade de France.

France's goals came from Antoine Griezmann, Anthony Martial, Dayot Upamecano and Olivier Giroud, while Dejan Lovren and Josip Brekalo scored for Croatia.

With six points, France is in second place in the group.

OxygenOS 11 beta hints at 8K 960fps video recording, existence of OnePlus Buds Z - XDA Developers

Google has just announced official Android 11, rolling out to supported Google Pixel devices on the stable branch. Along with these stable builds, other OEMs are also joining in on the Android 11 party with new beta releases. OnePlus has arrived at the scene with Open Beta builds with Android 11 and OxygenOS 11 for the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. While users dig into the new OS update and experience the new stuff that both Google and OnePlus have added in, we have discovered hints for upcoming features such as 8K 960fps video recording, and the existence of the OnePlus Buds Z.

A teardown can often predict features that may arrive in a future update of an application, but it is possible that any of the features we mention here may not make it in a future release. This is because these features are currently unimplemented in the live build and may be pulled at any time by the developers in a future build.

8K 960fps Video Recording in OxygenOS 11

OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 1 for the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro includes these new strings within the OnePlus Camera app:

The strings suggest that OnePlus is working on bringing in 8K 960fps video recording support to its smartphones, likely on the upper-end flagships. However, we aren't exactly sure how the company would achieve 8K 960fps on the currently available hardware. The Spectra 480 ISP on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 supports capturing 720p @ 960fpos for an unlimited duration without overheating. But the ISP cannot natively process as many frames as would be required for 960fps at 8K, 4K, or even 1080p. The ISP can handle 8K 30fps as we have seen on several Snapdragon 865 flagships this year, but going beyond this would be a first.

As mentioned, we aren't sure how exactly OnePlus will execute this. These strings could be in preparation for a future device with Qualcomm's next-gen SoC. Or, OnePlus could resort to using some crazy upscaling and interpolation to achieve this effect.

OnePlus Buds Z

XDA Senior Member Some_Random_Username spotted a mention of the yet-unreleased OnePlus Buds Z in /vendor/etc/dolby/dax-default.xml:

To be clear, there already is a separate oneplus_bluetooth_Buds tuning profile, so these Buds Z are not the same as the OnePlus Buds that have already been released. OnePlus' Bluetooth audio accessory lineup currently includes the OnePlus Bullets Wireless, OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2, OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z, and the OnePlus Buds. So, the OnePlus Buds Z could be the next Bluetooth TWS to arrive, possibly at a lower price tag than the OnePlus Buds if the company follows its pricing tradition.

And to be even more clear, this singular mention isn't conclusive evidence that the Buds Z definitely exists, but it is a device that could be released in the future. We do not have any further information on the Buds Z. If we are allowed to speculate, the company could launch it alongside the OnePlus 8T.

OnePlus 8T – "kebab" renders

The OnePlus Settings app is seeing a few minor changes under the hood. The OnePlus 8T render (titled "oneplus_8t.webp") found earlier has disappeared. Instead, we have a new file named "oneplus_kebab.webp", though the render within is the same as the OnePlus 8.

The Settings app also has strings hinting at there being two variants of the OnePlus 8T – kebab and kebabt, with the kebab destined to arrive in Canada and India and kebabt destined for the USA.

It looks like we're not the only ones who have become entranced by the Duke of Cambridge's rugged good looks. While Kate Middleton and Prince William were still dating, Middleton offered some cheeky commentary about the duke in uniform and, to be honest, we'd have probably done the same.

According to a lip reader who was featured in the Royal Wives documentary, Middleton said the following during his Royal Air Force graduation ceremony, "I love him in uniform, he's so, so sexy."

The bold remark was made in 2006—just four years before they tied the knot, but it unfortunately wasn't caught on tape. However, we did find this snapshot of the duke in his uniform during the aforementioned event.

Considering the fact that he looks like a brave knight in shining armor, it's easy to see why Middleton would make such a flirty remark.

As for the prestigious event, it turns out that Middleton was not expected to attend. But after she arrived, it started some engagement rumors.

In the documentary William & Kate: Too Good To Be True?, Journalist Rebecca English claimed, "We hadn't expected Kate and her family to turn up, and myself and a number of photographers and journalists were all standing on a press stand together. Suddenly out of the corner of her eye we saw Kate and her mother and father being ushered down to the front of the seating. I remember turning to the person next to me and saying that's it, it's a done deal. This woman is going to be our future queen."

The duke and duchess sadly had a brief breakup after the ceremony took place, but thankfully, they reconciled and got engaged in 2010. After having their fairytale wedding in 2011, Middleton gave birth to their three children: Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, 2.

We imagine that Middleton is feeling very lucky to have such a "sexy" husband and father by her side right now.

The Lakers defeated the Rockets 112-102 in Game 3 of the conference semis, and Bron shined yet again with his heavy beating of the Rockets.

The Akron Hammer pounded 36 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists in the game. But that is not it. His insane blocks against the Rockets became the highlight of the match as he kept denying them shots back-to-back like a 'shot assassin'.

LeBron James reaches new heights in the NBA playoffs!

The L-Train was playing in his 247th playoff game when he stretched one of his many records. He recorded 4 blocks in the game out of the 6 blocks that the entire Lakers unit made possible. This takes his total number of blocks in playoffs to 242. He can very easily touch the astounding average of 1 block per game in the post-season if he keeps going at this pace.

He had pulled similar blocks in Game 1 when he had denied a couple to Russell Westbrook. LeBron is getting more dangerous as the playoffs are moving ahead. Have a look at one of his blocks and look at the aggression he brought-

But still, LeBron is yet to take on many more records. Just to mention one, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had 8 blocks in Game 4 of the 1983 Western Conference Semifinals against the Trail Blazers. That's the most by a payer 35 or older. The record for the most by a Lakers man is held by Andrew Bynum, who had 10 blocks in Game 1 of the 2012 First Round against the Nuggets.

The Lakers are shutting down haters!

The Los Angeles Lakers began both their playoff series with a loss. But then turned themselves into a force that became just unstoppable. Rajon Rondo has finally shown why he was so hyped as he dropped 21 points in the game.

Now that the Lakers have someone outside of the star duo to rely on, they're more or less one of the hardest teams to beat. Let us see if the Rockets can come with some answers in Game 4.

'Women get much feistier and braver': At 82, legendary actress Jane Fonda ramps up her activism - CBC.ca

Jane Fonda wasn't entirely surprised that, not long after she reached her 80s, she landed in jail.

The Oscar-winning actress has appeared in films including They Shoot Horses, Don't They?, Klute, Coming Home, Julia, The China Syndrome, On Golden Pond, The Morning After, 9 to 5 and many others, and released the first exercise video, Jane Fonda's Workout, which became the biggest-selling VHS of all time.

But for decades Fonda has also been a political activist, speaking out about causes from the Vietnam War to racism to climate change — and in recent years, she has seriously ramped up her activities.

She moved to the U.S. Capitol to lead weekly climate change demonstrations, which she called Fire Drill Fridays. Every week she would appear wearing a red coat and, using a megaphone, lead thousands of people in protest.

She's been arrested five times, and spent a night in jail. Celebrities including Sally Field, Joaquin Phoenix, Ted Danson, Diane Lane, Piper Perabo and Sam Waterston have also been arrested.

"I never imagined I'd live this long," jokes Fonda in an interview with q host Tom Power. "But if I'd ever imagined I would live this long, I would have figured I'd go to jail. Women get much feistier and braver when they're older."

'I knew that I needed to do more'

It turns out it was a Canadian author who helped to inspire the shift: when Fonda was on a trip to Big Sur with friends, she read a book by Naomi Klein.

"All of her books have a huge impact on me and my life. But her last book is called On Fire: The (Burning) Case for a Green New Deal. That's what I needed to get me off my duff and into action. I knew that I needed to do more," says Fonda.

"I started reading the science and realizing that the window of opportunity is closing. We have to work really fast."

Seventeen-year-old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg also inspired Fonda by "putting her body on the line."

"That made me realize that what I wanted to do is put my body on the line," says Fonda. "I'm a celebrity. I'll raise a lot of attention that way."

Fonda says her activist streak began in Washington State in the 1970s, when she began protesting in support of Indigenous rights.

"That's when I really realized that I had a special responsibility because I was a celebrity," she says, "when I realized what it meant to have my presence there among all those tribal nations that were protesting."

Fonda also visited young Native American protestors in Alcatraz prison from 1969 to 1971.

Around the same time, she became involved with the movement to end the war in Vietnam — and was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking after an anti-war speaking tour in Canada. The charges were later dropped.

More recently she also joined Indigenous leaders in Canada to speak out against the Canadian government's purchase of oil pipelines.

"We shouldn't be fooled by good-looking Liberals, no matter how well-spoken they are," said Fonda, referring to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

"He talked so beautifully of needing to meet the requirements of the [Paris] climate treaty and to respect and hold to the treaties with Indigenous people. Such a heroic stance he took there, and yet he has betrayed every one of the things he committed to in Paris."

'I dug in my heels'

Fonda says she was raised by her parents to stand up for the underdog — her father, Henry Fonda, appeared in films including The Grapes of Wrath, 12 Angry Men, The Wrong Man and The Ox-Bow Incident.

"Those were the films that he loved," she says. "And they were about fairness and justice."

Still, as the anti-war movement grew, Henry Fonda expressed concern about his daughter's activism.

"It was a generational struggle, so there was a lot of intergenerational clashing. I remember when he went over to Vietnam with the USO — you know, the entertainers who go over and entertain the troops," she remembers.

"And when he came back, the thing he kept talking about was there are no battle lines. You don't know where the enemy is. He was just flummoxed by that fact," says Fonda.

"But he was just worried that I was going to get in trouble like celebrities had in the '50s when they spoke out."

Despite her father's concerns, and public backlash for her firm stances, Fonda says she recognized her privilege and decided she wanted to speak out about issues that mattered to her.

"The more they attacked me, the more I dug in my heels and moved forward with resolve."

'Be more intentional'

In 1972, Fonda also earned the infamous nickname "Hanoi Jane" after she was photographed sitting atop a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun during a visit to Hanoi.

The image, which Fonda says happened after the soldiers sang her a song, led to the actress being blacklisted from Hollywood, and deterred other celebrities from getting involved in anti-war efforts.

"It was a terrible, thoughtless, irresponsible thing to do. I mean, it was not an active gun. There were no planes in the air. Nothing was happening. But I realized that the image belied everything that I am," says Fonda.

"I believe in non-violent civil disobedience. I don't believe in shooting evil and dropping bombs. So it was a terrible mistake and it was thoughtless."

Still, she says, her trip to North Vietnam brought international attention to the bombing, which was her main aim. "Never let perfect get in the way of good," she says.

Fonda says celebrities can act as "repeaters" — she describes them as antennae at the tops of mountains that pick up weak signals and amplify them — and send voices that don't normally get heard to wider audiences.

At one point she considered focusing on activism full-time, but her friend Ken Cockrel, a prominent politician, attorney and organizer behind the League of Revolutionary Black Workers, convinced her otherwise.

"He was like my mentor at the time, and I said, 'I think I'm going to quit Hollywood and become just a full time organizer.' And he said, 'Fonda, wait a minute, wait a minute. The movement has plenty of organizers. We don't have movie stars. Not only should you stay in the industry, you should pay more attention to your career. Be more intentional about your career," remembers Fonda.

"And that's where I decided to start making movies that were about things that I cared about. Fun with Dick and Jane and Coming Home, The China Syndrome, 9 to 5, et cetera."

'Such a feeling of empowerment'

Fonda has just released a new book, What Can I Do? My Path From Climate Despair to Action. In it, she retraces her decades of activism, and weaves personal anecdotes with insights from top climate scientists who discuss key issues including water, immigration and human rights.

The book also provides tips on what people can do in their own communities.

Now 82, Fonda says that getting older "takes work," but that it also helps keep her hopeful because she knows things have been bleak before. "Been there, done that, you know?" she says.

She insists that for her, the best antidote to depression is activism, and when she puts herself on the line, the hopelessness disappears. That's partly why, as an octogenarian, she is still willing to get arrested.

"The first [Fire Drill Friday] that I was standing on the steps with 15 other people holding our placards and chanting, I felt so good. It was like stepping into myself," says Fonda, who moved Fire Drill Fridays online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"When you're putting your whole body on the line for something that you believe in, when you're fully aligned with your deepest values, there is such a feeling of empowerment," she says.

"And I realized that the other 14 people felt the same way. And on the last day, four months later, when there were 350 people standing on the steps. And I could see in their faces that they all felt that."

Both currently play for LA teams seeking an NBA championship. But Marcus and Markieff have also earned lucrative deals throughout their NBA careers. Let's look at both players' key contracts to determine which brother has made more money during their NBA careers.

Marcus Morris's career stats and earnings

Drafted with the No. 14 pick by the Houston Rockets, Marcus has put up respectable numbers during his nine-year NBA career. After a rookie season with limited minutes, he came into his own for the Rockets. According to Basketball-Reference, he averaged eight points and four rebounds per game before a trade sent him to the Phoenix Suns.

His time between Houston and Phoenix started with his two-year rookie entry level deal worth $3.7 million. The Rockets would exercise the rookie option by another year in 2012, worth nearly $2 million. The Suns also exercised the fourth year ($2.94 million), before signing him to a four-year $20 million extension. 

After putting up nearly 10 points per game in three seasons with the Suns they traded him along with Reggie Bullock and Danny Granger to the Pistons for a second round pick. 

Marcus spent two years in Detroit and Boston respectively. He played well for the Celtics before the team renounced his rights making him an unrestricted free agent.

While Marcus originally agreed to a deal with the San Antonio Spurs, he spurned them for an opportunity to earn more money with the Knicks. This contract was for one year and was worth $15 million, according to Spotrac. Marcus was subsequently traded to the LA Clippers as part of a three-team deal that helped the Knicks get multiple first-round picks.

How has Markieff Morris's career turned out?

Markieff was the No. 13 pick by the Phoenix Suns and was a key player for them even as a rookie, averaging almost 20 minutes per game for the Suns. He signed his two-year rookie entry-level deal for $3.92 million, details Spotrac, then had his rookie option picked up for the next two seasons ($5.2 million). He became the full-time starter in 2014.

As a starter, he had the best season of his career, reports Basketball Reference, putting up 15 points and six rebounds per game for the Suns. This led the Suns to sign him to a four-year $32 million rookie extension. After a trade to the Washington Wizards during the 2015-16 season, Morris would play out the rest of that contract in D.C., averaging 12 points and six rebounds per game in a Wizards uniform.

A trade to New Orleans would happen before the deadline of the 2018-19 season, and the Pelicans waived him the same day. He would sign a minimum deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder worth $573k, helping them make the playoffs.

Markieff could be one of the X-factors if the Lakers are going to make a run at the NBA Championship.

あらすじ

　お笑いコンビ、極楽とんぼの加藤浩次（51）が9日、MCを務める日本テレビ系「スッキリ」（月〜金曜前8・00）に出演。俳優の伊勢谷友介容疑者（44）が、8日に東京都目黒区の自宅で大麻を所持したとして、大麻取締法違反（所持）の疑いで現行犯逮捕されたことに言及した。

　逮捕容疑は8日午後4時39分、目黒区碑文谷の自宅で発見された大麻4袋のうちの1袋（約7・8グラム）を所持した疑い。捜査関係者によると、伊勢谷容疑者は「何も言えない。弁護士さんが来てからお話ししたい」と供述。身柄は夜に東京湾岸署に留置された。

　加藤は、大麻の使用について「世界で言ったら、もしかしたら合法な地域もあるのかもしれないけど日本では違法行為なわけですよ」とコメント。伊勢谷容疑者の使用を「それは、"（違法行為）やっている"という自覚が本人もあったと思う」と推測した。

Before the "Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" star took home trophies in 2018 and 2019, Kate McKinnon won in 2016 and 2017 for "SNL," and Allison Janney won in 2014 and 2015 for "Mom." Julie Bowen also won twice for "Modern Family" in 2011 and 2012, making Merritt Wever ("Nurse Jackie") and Jane Lynch ("Glee") the only winners not to repeat this decade.
Fun Fact: Including the women above, 11 performers have won the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series twice — but only four have won more than two. The State of the Race

2020 could be the year "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" takes control of the comedy race, and it could start in the Best Supporting Actress race — again. Not only does the Amazon Prime Video hit have two-time champion Alex Borstein returning to the race, but last year's new nominee Marin Hinkle is nominated once again. Last year saw the Amazon Prime juggernaut  sweep the comedy category's Supporting and Guest races… before "Fleabag" dominated the rest of the race. This year, Phoebe Waller-Bridge is nowhere to be seen, while Tony Shaloub, Sterling K. Brown, Luke Kirby, Wanda Sykes, and plenty more "Maisel" acting nominees are waiting in the wings, hoping to add to the series' swelling win tally.

Still, no matter how marvelous "Mrs." turns out to be in 2020, it's far from a lock, especially here. The Best Supporting Actress category has a decade-long tradition of handing out back-to-back trophies to the same performer before moving on to new blood. Borstein already has her two, and only four actors have ever won the category three times in a row (Valerie Harper, Laurie Metcalf, Rhea Perlman, and, most recently, Doris Roberts from 2001-2003). The actor behind tough-talking Susie Myerson could join them, but not only is history working against her: The expanded field means increased competition.

D'Arcy Carden and Annie Murphy have the final seasons of "The Good Place" and "Schitt's Creek" working in their favor, respectively. Carden saw her role expanded and her abilities challenged over four strong seasons, as she continued to morph Janice into an endearing and impressive not-a-human creation. Murphy is part of a suddenly beloved ensemble, riding the wave of the show's late surge with Emmy voters; that could be enough to get her the win for her first nomination, though Carden seems to have the trickier farewell role.

Emmy voters continue to shine their light on surprising "SNL" stars each season. No, Kate McKinnon's eighth nominations wasn't a shock, but many were pleasantly surprised to see Cecily Strong among the nominees, in her first trip to the Emmys. Both have their sketch-stretched range and the show's continued popularity in their corner, though neither had the culturally buzzy kind of season that typically elevates "SNL" stars to the winner's circle. Similarly, Betty Gilpin turned in another layered, creative, and altogether fantastic turn in Netflix's "GLOW," but the lack of recognition elsewhere could indicate that not enough Emmy voters are still watching.

That leaves Yvonne Orji. Though this is her first nomination in four seasons of "Insecure" and the HBO comedy isn't signing off any time soon, a lack of momentum shouldn't be a problem for the growing star. Her stand-up special helped bring in new fans, and her work in Season 4 is the kind of performance that made long-time fans take note, as well as newcomers. Also in her favor are "Insecure's" eight total nominations. While that's more than "The Good Place" and "GLOW," if not "Maisel" and "SNL," what matters is that there's clearly a lot of love out there for the series — Supporting Actress isn't the kind of category that always goes to the most-nominated series; plenty of smaller, beloved programs steal the spotlight here. I like Orji's odds, even though with so many in the field, it's hard to feel strongly about any one candidate.

Boy in viral video has connection to Investigator Herrera - KOLN

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A video and photograph of five-year-old Alex Johnson saluting Investigator Herrera's processional have been viewed by tens of thousands of people.

The little boy actually has ties to Hererra and his family and says he held that salute for the entire escort.

"I'm sad because a bad man shooted my dad's friend Mario," said Alex.

That video has touched thousands and the connection to Herrera goes deeper than just a love of law enforcement.

Alex's dad Darren Johnson served alongside Herrera for eight years at LPD.

"I was lucky enough to help train him in-vehicle driving techniques and firearms and stuff," said Darren. "He was really detail-oriented, a great investigator, and an even better human being."

Darren says he was blown away by the show of support from across the state and for his song to be one of the images people will remember is incredibly touching.

"It makes me feel so proud of him," said Darren. "He's always obviously had a lot of respect for law enforcement."

Even before the video was taken Monday, Alex always says a prayer whenever he can hear sirens in Lincoln.

"Dear God thank you for the firetruck or policeman or ambulance, amen," said Alex.

Alex says when he grows up he wants to be either a policeman, doctor, or a hockey player but would love to be all three at once.

WITTLICH. Am Dienstag, 08.09.2020 kam es in der Zeit zwischen 16.15 – 16.30 Uhr in der Schlossgalerie Wittlich zu einem dreisten Diebstahl.

Ein männlicher (1) und eine weibliche Tatverdächtige (2) hatten sich in einem Juweliergeschäft Goldketten ausgesucht, die sie käuflich erwerben wollten. In einem unbeobachteten Moment nahmen die Täter zwei Goldketten an sich und verließen das Geschäft. Das Fehlen der Ketten wurde erst später bemerkt. Die Schadenshöhe beträgt etwa 7300 Euro.

Die Tatverdächtigen können wie folgt beschrieben werden:

-Verdächtiger 1: sportlicher Typ, ca. 20-25 Jahre, dunkle Hose, dunkles T-Shirt
-Verdächtige 2: sehr kräftig, ca. 60 Jahre, braun gemustertes langes Kleid

Hinweise zu den Tatverdächtigen werden durch die Polizei Wittlich erbeten.

The government of Russia approached the government of India through appropriate channels and sought help on two counts. One- to consider its manufacturing through a network of companies that are well-known for vaccine manufacturing of the right quality and the size, volume, and capacity which is the very best in the world. So, the intent was to manufacture this vaccine through Indian companies. They have done phase one and phase 2 trials. If need be, they proposed that phase 3 studies can be conducted in India. These are the twin requests from their side."

"The government of India attaches great importance to this offer of partnership from a very special friend to this nation. On both the tracks, there has been significant movement. The outreach has been extended to several companies from India. A few of them have already come forward. There will be very specific outcomes very soon in that regard," he added.

What is the Sputnik V vaccine? 

On August 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that his government had approved Sputnik V, the first vaccine in the world against COVID-19. It has reportedly been named after the world's first satellite launched by the Soviet Union. The vaccine has been developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology along with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

Putin mentioned that one of his daughters had already been inoculated. As the vaccine has not been tested in phase 3 or larger clinical trials, there is a perception that Russia had put national prestige over safety amid the global race to develop a vaccine. Recently, the Russian Health Ministry confirmed that the first batch of the vaccine has been released for public use after clearing the necessary quality tests.

AstraZeneca puts COVID-19 vaccine trial on hold over safety concern - The Age

AstraZeneca has put a hold on the late-stage trial of the highly-anticipated COVID-19 vaccine candidate being developed with Oxford University after a suspected serious adverse reaction in a study participant, though the company says this is a "routine action."

The vaccine being trialled is the same product that biotechnology giant CSL has committed to making 30 million doses of for Australians if the product passes regulatory approvals.

AstraZeneca has not said what the serious adverse reaction was.

Independent scientists monitoring the trial will now try to determine whether the reaction was caused by the vaccine.

Clinical trial experts emphasised that pauses are a common part of the vaccine-development process.

An AstraZeneca spokeswoman told The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald that the "standard review process triggered a pause to vaccination to allow review of safety data."

"As part of the ongoing randomised, controlled global trials of the Oxford coronavirus vaccine, our standard review process was triggered and we voluntarily paused vaccination to allow review of safety data by an independent committee," the spokeswoman said.

"This is a routine action which has to happen whenever there is a potentially unexplained illness in one of the trials, while it is investigated, ensuring we maintain the integrity of the trials. In large trials illnesses will happen by chance but must be independently reviewed to check this carefully."

The study is testing the COVID-19 vaccine being developed by AstraZeneca and University of Oxford researchers at sites including the US and Britain, where the adverse event was reported.

The nature of the safety issue and when it happened were not immediately known, although the participant is expected to recover, according to Stat News.

AstraZeneca declined to comment on whether the pause would cause any delays on when the product would be available for distribution, or whether Australia would have to wait longer for its doses.

Earlier this week AstraZeneca and CSL both said doses of the product could be ready in Australia in the early part of 2021.

"We are working to expedite the review of the single event to minimise any potential impact on the trial timeline," the AstraZeneca spokeswoman said.

Professor Adrian Esterman, chair of biostatistics at the University of South Australia, said trial pauses were "absolutely common".

"It would happen in every single clinical trial. It is extremely common. There is nearly always someone who dies or has a stroke during a clinical trial."

Serious adverse events can include a range of illnesses, including serious allergic reactions, strokes, and death.

An independent monitoring committee will now scrutinise the trial to determine if the event was caused by the vaccine itself.

"Someone could have a stroke but it could have nothing to do with the vaccine altogether," said Professor Esterman.

How clinical trials work

Phase 1: The vaccine is tested on a small group of healthy volunteers. Scientists look for serious safety concerns

Phase 2: these trials are also small. They test different doses of vaccine and look for early evidence the drug or vaccine is effective

Phase 3: these trials often involve tens of thousands of people. They test a drug or vaccine's safety and effectiveness in people of different ages and with different health conditions

Approval: A regulator looks at all the data and decides whether to approve the vaccine

Associate Professor Darren Saunders, a cancer biologist at the University of NSW, said trial pauses would not normally attract attention – but the pandemic has turned science into a spectator sport.

"This is the way it works. It always works like this. It's just that most people normally don't get to see it.

"People should not be too despondent. This is not an unusual thing to happen in a clinical trial. Research does not work on a linear path. There are hiccups, there are hurdles, and sometimes we have to backtrack"

The Stat report said suspension of the trial was having an impact on other AstraZeneca vaccine trials – as well as on clinical trials being conducted by other vaccine makers.

Nine leading US and European vaccine developers pledged on Tuesday to uphold scientific safety and efficacy standards for their experimental vaccines despite the urgency to contain the coronavirus pandemic.

The companies, including AstraZeneca, Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline, issued what they called a "historic pledge" after a rise in concerns that safety standards might slip in the face of political pressure to rush out a vaccine.

The companies said they would "uphold the integrity of the scientific process as they work towards potential global regulatory filings and approvals of the first COVID-19 vaccines".

The other signatories were Johnson & Johnson, Merck & Co, Moderna, Novavax, Sanofi and BioNTech.

Un cliché qui crée un véritable Buzz.

Depuis un an, Iris Mittenaere et Diego El Glaoui filent le parfait amour. Ensemble,  ils ont vécu durant cette période de nombreuses aventures dans diverses régions du monde.  À part cela, ils sont aussi très présents sur les réseaux sociaux, et partagent fréquemment les moments forts qu'ils vivent au quotidien, au grand bonheur de leurs nombreux admirateurs.

Ainsi, ce dimanche 6 septembre 2020, Iris Mittenaere a publié un cliché qui a émerveillé les fans du couple, et qui a également suscité de nombreuses réactions. Dans la photo, on voit les deux amoureux, côte à côte dans un appartement. Diego El Glaoui tient tendrement sa belle princesse dans ses bras. Cette dernière, quant à elle, est toute souriante.

Visiblement, ils sont habillés pour une occasion très spéciale. En effet, Diego El Glaoui porte un costume dans lequel il est plus élégant que jamais. Quant à Iris Mittenaere, elle porte une robe blanche en satin et une chaussure blanche très bien assortie à sa robe. En légende de la photo, l'ancienne reine de beauté a écrit ces mots : « 're cute » ou « T'es mignon ».

Quand les internautes ont vu le cliché, la toile s'est emballée au point que la publication est  devenue un véritable . De plus, la veille du jour de la publication de ce cliché, Iris Mittenaere avait dit à ses abonnés qu'elle allait leur faire part d'une bonne nouvelle et que son couple avait quelque chose à célébrer.

C'est alors que de nombreuses réactions ainsi que des commentaires venant des fans en ébullitions ont afflué. Certains d'entre eux disent : « Tellement beaux », « Vous êtes magnifiques tous les deux », « Ils sont trop mignons ».

Une robe de mariée ?

À part les commentaires pleins d'éloges des amoureux, la publication d'Iris Mittenaere a également semé le doute chez les fans qui n'ont pas hésité à poser des questions. « Seriez-vous en train de nous cacher quelque chose », « Quand emménagerez-vous dans ton appartement ? » ont dit certains d'entre eux.

Il faut dire qu'au vu de ces tenues chics et très élégantes que le couple porte, certains fans ont imaginé certaines choses. En effet, il a ceux qui ont tout de suite cru que cette longue robe blanche d'Iris Mittenaere était  une robe de mariée. « J'ai vraiment cru pendant un instant que tu portais une robe de mariée », « Jour de  ? », « Vous êtes-vous mariés ? », « Fiançailles ? », ont-ils demandé à l'ancienne Miss .

Toutefois, un autre commentaire, cette fois-ci venant de l'acteur Jessé Rémond Lacroix, apporte la confirmation qu'Iris Mittenaere et Diego El Glaoui ne se sont pas encore mariés. Il a dit : « Wôw, j'ai bien cru que vous ne m'aviez pas invité au mariage. »

Toujours en rapport avec la manière dont est habillé le couple, il y a cette question très bien posée de la part d'un internaute. « Est-ce à l'occasion du mariage de ta maman ? » a-t-il demandé. On se souvient effectivement qu'en 2019, Iris Mittenaere avait annoncé que sa mère Laurence Druart allait sceller son union avec l'élu de son cœur. Toutefois, la question demeure encore sans réponse.

Quoi qu'il en soit, même s'ils ne se sont pas encore passé la bague au doigt, un mariage entre Iris Mittenaere et Diego El Glaoui a de quoi faire jubiler leurs nombreux fans. Certains d'entre eux ont dit qu'ils feraient un très joli couple marié tandis que d'autres attendent impatiemment que Diego El Glaoui fasse enfin sa demande en mariage

静から動の落差と締めの「UQ♪」 強烈な残存効果を残す『UQ三姉妹CM』演出の妙 - auone.jp

　「UQ三姉妹」シリーズのCM開始から4年、UQモバイルによるTV-CMは視聴者からの好感度を年々高めている。守りに入らない"攻めの演出"が魅力であり、1日より放送スタートした「め組のひと」篇では、RATS&STARの同名曲のもとで深田恭子、多部未華子、永野芽郁の"UQ三姉妹"が登場。8月にスタートした「シニア三姉妹」篇では松坂慶子、大地真央、田中美佐子による全員60歳以上の"三姉妹"が登場するなど話題に事欠かない。改めて「三姉妹」設定がどのように生まれ、CM好感度ランキングの常連シリーズに勝るとも劣らない存在感を得たのか。同社CM担当の杉浦さんに聞いた。

■格安スマホの負のイメージをいかに払拭できるか？ わずか半年で会社認知度を24%から90%に

　UQモバイルのCMと言えば、深田、多部、永野のUQ三姉妹が、ピンク・レディーの『UFO』の曲が流れる中、微動だにせずシュールな会話を繰り広げ、「UFO」の歌詞の部分で「UQ♪」と、こちらを向く展開や、「UQだぞっ♪」というセリフでおなじみだ。　深田・多部・永野の「UQ三姉妹」CMは、2016年10月からスタート。「三姉妹」シリーズはCM好感度も上位に入っており、数々のCM賞も受賞しているが、そこには立ち上げ当初からの"認知度の壁"と"刷り込み戦略"があった。

　「当初のミッションはとにかくUQの認知を上げること。当時、格安スマホ市場は有象無象の熾烈な争いを繰り広げており、ワイモバイルが突出した存在でした。『UQモバイルを知っていますか？』と調査を行い、「知っている」と答えた人はわずか24％。そこで、半年以内にワイモバイルさんらと肩を並べる存在感を手に入れることを目標として掲げ、CM制作が始まりました」（杉浦さん／以下同）

　半年以内に認知度を上げるためには、フレームとしてインパクトの強いものが必要だった。「当時、格安スマホと言えば、安かろう悪かろうのイメージがどうしてもありました。低価格だからこその"安っぽさを感じさせない"ブランドにしたいと考えました」

　"安っぽさを感じさせない"ため、キャスティングも"それぞれ個性の違う圧倒的な美人"にこだわった。美術やメイクにもこだわり、視聴者から「あの深田さんが着ている服はどこで買えるのですか？」という問い合わせが来るほどのビジュアルに仕上げ、わずか半年後の認知度調査では、24％から90％に向上させた。

■こだわりは"静から動の一枚絵"の力…フォーマットを徹底することによる刷り込み戦略

　こだわりはこれだけではない。「TVCMは一ヶ月で約1,000以上の素材が流れています。一瞬、目にしただけ、耳にしただけでも"それ"と分かる"型"が要るんです。ピンク・レディーの曲が流れ、三姉妹が身動き一つせずに、目線も合わさずシュールな会話を繰り広げる。そして「UFO♪」の歌詞で一斉にこちらを見て、三姉妹が「UQ」と。その後、三姉妹が一気に笑顔になって、ピンクバックの前で踊りながら宣伝をする。語尾に「だぞっ♪」をつける。この"フォーマット"を徹底することによって、"刷り込み"が行われるだろうと企画していきました」

　滑り出しに成功した後は、女優たちに演技力を求めた。学割プランの訴求を主目的とした「JKになる三女」篇(17年)では、永野を主役にし「UQ♪」の部分を「JK」と入れ替えて放映。そのユニークさが受けてCM大賞を獲得。当時の永野は朝ドラ『半分、青い。』（NHK総合）に出演する前で、「あの美女は誰？」と視聴者に強烈なインパクトを残した。同年春の「長女のひとりぐらし」篇では、長女役の深田が「UQ」を「有給（休暇）」とキョトン顔で披露。"変化球"を投げてCMの残像効果を拡大させることにも成功。

■あえてメインの三姉妹が登場しないCM、シリーズの"エッジ"をさらに際立たせる戦術

　また、今年8月には、松坂慶子（長女）、大地真央（次女）、田中美佐子（三女）で"シニア三姉妹"を結成し、60歳以上国内通話し放題の「シニア割」や「おてがるスマホ」を訴求。SNSでは「斬新すぎて噴いた」「あの三姉妹が歳をとってる!?」などと話題になったが、これまでのメインキャストがまったく登場しない展開は、決して「路線変更」ではないという。

　「UQでは昨年、『シニア割』のサービス提供を開始しましたが、そのこと自体があまり知られておらず、それを認知したいと考え制作しました。そうなると同世代のタレントさんが出演している方がよりメッセージ性が高くなる。そこで60歳以上の方を集めました。通常、60歳以上のタレントさんは、イメージ的に"やさしいおじいちゃんおばあちゃん"を想起してしまいがちですが、『UQ』CMの"エッジ"をさらに際立たせるため、それぞれ個性の異なる、とびっきりの美人のお三方に声をかけさせて頂いたのです」

　メインの三姉妹が出演しないことに懸念はなかったのか。「ありました。深田さん、多部さん、永野さんのUQ三姉妹があまりに根付いているがゆえに、オリジナルキャストがまったく出ないとなると同ブランドとして伝わるか心配はありました。しかし、同作も『UQ』CMの世界観を引き継げているようで、お客様からは好評の声をいただいており、『UQ』ブランドは担保出来ていると実感しております」

■『UQ』CMで最も"尖っている"のはWEB広告　TikTok風や初期恋愛ゲーム風など"遊び心"も

　一方、UQが最も"尖っている"のは WEB広告だろう。「動画広告はYou TubeやSNSで流れますので、とにかく "スキップされないこと"を重視しています」と杉浦さんが語るように、デジタル世代に受けているフレームに注視。UQ三姉妹が音楽に乗せて踊ったりしているダンスアプリ風のCMがそれだ。また平成初期の恋愛シミュレーションゲームを想起させるCMもあり、デジタル世代の中でも世代分けをしている。SNSでは「永野芽郁がTikTok始めたのかと思った」「多部未華子とのゲーム、売ってほしい」という声も多数見られた。

「デジタル展開はテレビとは違い、尺に自由が利きます。テレビだと30秒ですので、1メッセージやキャッチぐらいしか伝えられませんが、デジタルだと長めにも出来る。すると、そこにどういうメリットがあるか…というところまで踏み込めます。さらに、全国一斉に流れているTVCMと違って、You TubeやSNSなどではユーザーの層がある程度絞り込める。つまりターゲティングが取りやすいことも利点として挙げられますね」

　今後の"課題"を伺うと、杉浦さんはCMの完成度については「ありません」と断言。「ただ、学割、60歳以上にもお勧めなど、多くのことをもっと伝えたいとは思っています」と続ける。

　CM好感度についても目標がある。「好感度ってとても難しいもので、やはりTVCM展開が多ければ多いほど高くなる傾向があります。毎月CMを流せる企業もありますが、UQのTVCM展開は年に5～6回ほど。ですが『ゼスプリ　キウイフルーツ』さんのCMが7月にCM好感度1位に輝いた例もあります。そういった好感度を『UQ』も手に入れていきたいですね」

　"刷り込み戦略"による残存効果で、強いインパクトを残し続けているUQのCM。今後、UQ三姉妹がどのような展開を魅せてくれるのか？ さらにWeb版ではどのような"遊び"を見せてくれるのか。限られた環境や制約を逆手に取る同社CMの今後が楽しみ…「だぞっ♪」。

Here's a moment where life really does imitate art.

Two cats were filmed fighting in the Dominican Republic last week. As they fought, they appeared to act out the iconic scene from "The Lion King" when antagonist lion Scar pushes his brother Mufasa off a cliff into a stampede of wildebeests.

The 10-second video -- which was originally posted on Facebook on Thursday -- shows the two cats viciously fighting each other on the rooftop of a one-story building.

During the fight, one of the cats rolls partly off the ledge, using its front two paws to hang on to the roof.

The other cat, still fully on the roof, starts to swipe its paw at the hanging cat's face before it falls to the ground.

Unlike Mufasa, however, the cat fell only a short distance.

Since the video was posted on Facebook last week, it has been reposted on Twitter and has gone viral, with millions of views.

According to Newsweek, one video of the encounter was viewed 6 million times on Twitter, but it has since been taken down.

A different post of the video has been viewed more than 78,700 times, retweeted more than 3,000 times and liked more than 6,300 times.

And of course, because of its similarity to the scene in "The Lion King," one Twitter user even added the audio from the 1994 animated film onto the video.

AstraZeneca shares fell more than 6% in after-hours trading Tuesday after the company said its late-stage trial for a potential coronavirus vaccine had been put on hold due to safety concerns. 

"This is a routine action which has to happen whenever there is a potentially unexplained illness in one of the trials, while it is investigated, ensuring we maintain the integrity of the trials. In large trials illnesses will happen by chance but must be independently reviewed to check this carefully," the company said in a statement to CNBC. 

It said it was trying to expedite the review to "minimize any potential impact on the trial timeline."

"We are committed to the safety of our participants and the highest standards of conduct in our trials," the company said. 

A person familiar with the development said researchers were told the hold was placed on the trial out of "an abundance of caution" after a suspected serious adverse reaction in a participant in the United Kingdom, according to STAT News. 

It's unclear how long the hold on the trial will last. AstraZeneca began its trial late last month and is one of three companies currently in late-stage testing for a potential vaccine. The other two are Pfizer and Moderna, which both began their trials in late July. 

The U.S. government announced May 21 that it would pay AstraZeneca up to $1.2 billion for its experimental vaccine developed alongside researchers at the University of Oxford. The U.S. will receive at least 300 million doses of the vaccine as part of its investment.

AstraZeneca's vaccine, called AZD1222, uses genetic material from the coronavirus with a modified adenovirus. It uses technologies that were used to make an experimental Ebola vaccine, which was provided to people in the Democratic Republic of Congo in late 2019.

In July, the company published data that showed its vaccine produced a promising immune response in an early stage trial. 

The vaccine was found to be well tolerated and there were no serious adverse events, according to the researchers at the time. Fatigue and headache were the most commonly reported side effects, they said. Other common side effects included pain at the injection site, muscle ache, chills and a fever.

The development comes as polls suggest Americans are already concerned about the safety of potential coronavirus vaccines. 

According to a recent USA Today/Suffolk Poll, two-thirds of voters say they won't get the coronavirus vaccine as soon as it becomes available.
