Maradona captained La Albiceleste at the tournament but Cameroon's Francois Omam-Biyik stood out as the hero at the San Siro Stadium after scoring the only goal that separated the two teams in the 67th minute. It was an eventful outing for the Indomitable Lions who had two players - Andre Kana-Biyik and Benjamin Massing - sent off in the second half. Eto'o, who was nine years old at that time, recalled how hundreds of people gathered to watch the game in his neighbourhood, and he described the victory as 'the hope' which motivated the younger players back home. | Brazos Valley Food Bank seeing increased need at mobile pantries - KBTX Posted: 28 Nov 2020 09:44 PM PST  BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Members at the Brazos Valley Food Bank said they are seeing an increasing need at its mobile pantries around the community. Shannon Avila, Programs Manager for the food bank, said that these pantries are a great way to fill a need that otherwise would not be met. "It is a truck full of food delivered to a field somewhere. It's not always a field, sometimes that's a parking lot or fairgrounds or something like that, but the idea is to reach people who are in what's known as a food desert," said Avila. Four times a month, a truck is packed with everything from breakfast cereal to cabbage, and driven to locations in Grimes, Madison, and Washington counties. The food bank's last mobile pantry in Madisonville ran out of food, and Mobile Pantry Coordinator Andi Hawthorne said they served 50 more families than usual. "A lot of the people that come out, they come out every month," said Hawthorne. "So they are just very very appreciative of the food, and they are very appreciative that we were there." Avila said that recently, they have seen an increase in need in the community from longer lines at mobile pantries, to more families showing up for food. "During the holidays, our distributions always get a little bit more frequently visited, more of an increase in attendance, and then you layer COVID-19 on top of that, so it's an even bigger increase," said Avila. The food bank said that's where the community can help. Whether its monetary help, or helping pack food boxes, bags, distributing, or simply signing families in, all of it is needed now more than ever. "The help behind the scenes, with us being there if anybody wants to come out. It's good for your heart to see it," said Hawthorne. (Red Berenson Rink at Yost Ice Arena) ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Despite a Jacob Truscott goal with 44 seconds remaining in regulation, the, the University of Michigan ice hockey team fell, 2-1, to Notre Dame on Saturday night (Nov. 28) in a game that featured tight checking and sturdy goaltending. Junior netminder Strauss Mann stopped 29 of the 31 shots faced while shouldering his second loss of the season. Strauss was strong through the early going as Notre Dame racked up shots on goal. At the period's media timeout, shots were 7-1 in favor of the Irish. The Wolverines had their best chance of the period turned away with 5:21 left when Michael Pastujov collected a faceoff win and snapped a quick wrist shot on goal. After ND was whistled for a holding penalty with 2:37 remaining, the Michigan power-play unit hit the ice in search of the game's first goal. The Fighting Irish penalty-kill unit allowed a few shots, but made it to the first intermission with the game scoreless. Despite its flurry of shots to close out the period, U-M trailed in that category, 7-4. The Orange entered Saturday's home game against NC State on a six-game losing streak and holding a 1-8 overall record. On the other side, NC State has been having a pretty good season and was 6-3 on the year when it marched into the Carrier Dome. NC State is now 7-3 thanks to an awful gaffe by the Syracuse offense. Syracuse led for most of the game, holding a 22-14 halftime lead and a 29-20 advantage late in the third quarter. But NC State rallied and scored 16 consecutive points to flip a nine-point deficit into a seven-point advantage, 36-29, with 5:20 to play. Trailing by a touchdown, Syracuse still had a chance to tie the game or even go in front. And the offense moved into striking distance — first-and-goal from the 9 — with under a minute to play. At that point, Syracuse had no timeouts remaining. It ran for two yards on first down and was stuffed for no gain on second down. The clock was ticking on third-and-goal when quarterback Rex Culpepper made a terrible decision. Culpepper looked to throw, scrambled and ended up taking a sack for a loss of 11 yards. All the while, the clock was ticking. Facing a fourth-and-goal now from the 18, the Orange had one last try at the end zone. Instead, Syracuse did the unthinkable. | Mobile Home Fire In Butte County Kills 1 - CBS Sacramento Posted: 28 Nov 2020 05:44 PM PST MAGALIA (CBS13) – One person died after a mobile home caught fire in Butte County on Friday night, Cal Fire announced. According to Cal Fire, a double-wide mobile home caught fire shortly before 10 p.m. along Wood Drive in Magalia, which is just north of Paradise and northeast of Chico. Here are photos from the scene.
Investigators said one person, who was in the garage of the residence at the time, opened the door to the home and encountered heavy smoke. This person was taken to the hospital. The deceased victim was pulled out of the home and died after life-saving measures were performed, officials said. A dog was also located uninjured inside the mobile home and taken to safety. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Hugging, kissing and handshakes should all also be avoided - according to a new document from the experts advising the Government. And the scientists have issued guidance on how to reduce the risks of your shared family Christmas dinner becoming a superspreader event. The warning comes in a document released after the governments of the four UK nations decided to relax rules over the festive season. From December 23 until December 27 people will be allowed to gather in mixed households indoors. SAGE published a document this week called Mitigating risks of SARS-CoV-2 transmission associated withhousehold social interactions. It reads: "Transmission through contaminated surfaces. Games that may be traditionally played such as board games, cards, etc, giving of gifts, sharing of objects and vessels during religious observances. "Direct evidence for fomite transmission is limited, however viral RNA has been found on high touch surfaces in close proximity to infected people and there is evidence that shared cigarettes and drinking vessels are associated transmission. "High touch objects that are shared would increase potential for fomite transmission." It suggests people play quizzes rather than anything involving playing pieces, dice or a board that has to be touched. It reads: "Risks can be reduced through substituting activities for those that minimise sharing of objects, for example through playing quiz-based games rather than those which involved lots of shared game pieces. "Any objects which are likely to have direct contact with the mouth pose a particularly high risk. Where shared objects are involved good hand hygiene and avoiding touching the face during the activities can reduce risks. "Mitigations are most effective where they target objects that are likely to be touched – it is very unlikely that items such as decorations will pose a risk as they are rarely handled." On Christmas dinner rules, the document reads: "Mitigating risks focus on ensuring the room is well ventilated and spacing people out. Avoiding face-to-face positioning could reduce droplet transmission, with members of the same household seated opposite each other, and spacing members of other households further away. "Reminders like table placenames may be useful as a physical prompt. Contact transmission could be reduced through reducing the use of shared serving spoons and other shared objects. Limiting the duration of a meal is likely to reduce risks, especially if the space is small. "Good hygiene with everyone washing/sanitising hands prior to the meal and ensuring those cooking/serving food also practice good hygiene will reduce risks if someone has virus on their hands." On hugging and kissing the document reads: "Avoiding physical contact as far as possible will reduce risks, especially anything involving face-face or face-hand contact. "Gestures such as elbow bumps or air greetings could be used as alternatives. If there is physical contact it is a good idea to keep it to the minimum duration, turn faces away and wash hands afterwards". | Marin expands mobile psychiatric crisis team program - Marin Independent Journal Posted: 28 Nov 2020 04:44 PM PST  A state grant has allowed Marin County to add a second mobile team to provide psychiatric crisis intervention, and officials might expand the program more if they can find the funding. Advocates for "defunding" law enforcement agencies have lobbied county supervisors to take money from the Marin County Sheriff's Office budget and use it to fund additional psychiatric intervention. In response, supervisors reduced the sheriff's budget by $1.7 million in June. That money plus another $1 million have been reserved for unspecified racial equity initiatives. The expansion of the mobile crisis team program came up at the supervisors' meeting on Nov. 17 after the board eliminated 22 vacant county positions. The move is intended to cut a projected $16 million budget deficit in half for fiscal 2021-22. "We're going to be coming back to you on Dec. 15 with a update on our process around racial equity initiatives," County Administrator Matthew Hymel told supervisors. County mental health staffers met online with police chiefs on Nov. 19 to discuss mobile crisis teams. Supervisor Damon Connolly elaborated on Hymel's comments, describing in detail the expansion of the mobile crisis team program. A one-year grant — $347,000 from the California Health Facilities Financing Authority — helped fund a second team of two mental health clinicians. It will also fund an expansion of the program's operating hours — from 1 to 9 p.m. six days a week, to 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday. "This is a needed expansion while more is needed and underway," Connolly said. "Working with our partners, we are exploring the possibility of additional crisis teams, improved geographic coverage and expanded evening coverage." "With strong partners at the table, we continue to unpack the central questions of how do we best serve our community in response to a crisis," Connolly said. "I think we have to stay flexible even on the possibility of looking at how to adjust the budget to meet these evolving needs." Dr. Amit Rajparia, medical director for the Marin County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services division, said the mobile crisis team responded to 1,909 service calls between September 2019 and September 2020. Asked on Tuesday if supervisors have discussed taking more money from the sheriff's budget to fund such an initiative, Connolly said, "What is being considered is partnerships with law enforcement countywide, not only the sheriff's office but other police departments in the county." Five positions at the sheriff's department were among the 22 vacant positions cut on Nov. 17. Asked Tuesday if supervisors might eliminate more sheriff's office positions in March when they are scheduled to approve another $8 million in cuts, Connolly said, "I don't think we've got to that level of specificity." "One issue specifically with the sheriff's office that has been teed up is: Is it going to be possible to close one of the pods at the jail?" Connolly said. "There is ongoing analysis occurring around that right now." | US appeals court dismisses Trump challenge of Pennsylvania results - TRT World Posted: 28 Nov 2020 12:08 AM PST In a rejection of the Trump campaign's arguments that the president was cheated in his November 3 reelection bid, three appeals court judges unanimously said that there was no evidence to support the allegations of unfairness. Us President Donald Trump's legal team have suffered yet another defeat in court as a federal appeals court in Philadelphia roundly rejected the campaign's latest effort to challenge the state's election results. Trump's lawyers vowed to appeal to the Supreme Court despite the judges' assessment that the "campaign's claims have no merit." "Free, fair elections are the lifeblood of our democracy. Charges of unfairness are serious. But calling an election unfair does not make it so. Charges require specific allegations and then proof. We have neither here," 3rd Circuit Judge Stephanos Bibas, a Trump appointee, wrote for the three-judge panel, all appointed by Republican presidents. The case had been argued last week in a lower court by Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who insisted during five hours of oral arguments that the 2020 presidential election had been marred by widespread fraud in Pennsylvania. However, Giuliani failed to offer any tangible proof of that in court. US District Judge Matthew Brann, another Republican, had said the campaign's error-filled complaint, "like Frankenstein's monster, has been haphazardly stitched together" and denied Giuliani the right to amend it for a second time. The 3rd US Circuit Court of Appeals called any revisions "futile." Chief Judge D Brooks Smith and Judge Michael Chagares were on the panel with Bibas, a former University of Pennsylvania law professor. "That has not happened." A separate Republican challenge that reached the Pennsylvania Supreme Court this week seeks to stop the state from further certifying any races on the ballot. Democratic Governor Tom Wolf's administration is fighting that effort, saying it would prevent the state's legislature and congressional delegation from being seated in the coming weeks.
