| T-Mobile launches apprenticeship program - Las Vegas Review-Journal Posted: 25 Nov 2020 09:44 PM PST  Settlement discussions between one of the nation's largest wireless carriers and Nevada's top law enforcement officer has helped create a new apprenticeship program for Nevadans. Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford joined a multi-state lawsuit in June 2019 to halt the merger of T-Mobile and Sprint, expressing concerns about how a decrease in competition could affect local jobs, innovation and the economic market as a whole. The merger closed earlier this year. Ford said between settlement talks, the idea of kickstarting a paid apprenticeship program in Nevada was born. "When my office presented the idea of an apprenticeship program, T-Mobile embraced the opportunity and I am pleased to see its early and long term success," Ford said in a statement. The program began this month with seven paid apprenticeships at T-Mobile's Customer Experience Center and three in Technology Operations. T-Mobile has committed to having the program for at least six years, and by the fourth year the company will select 15 apprentices annually with opportunities throughout the state. Apprentices learn new skills through hands-on experience, classroom instruction and mentorship. As roles for the apprenticeship open up, they'll be posted to T-Mobile's Career website (https://ift.tt/37p2Lnt) and candidates can find and apply for the roles accordingly. Maradona passed away on Wednesday at the age of 60 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home, just two weeks after undergoing surgery for a blood clot on his brain. Regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, Maradonna has become synonymous with the No 10 jersey - which he wore when he won the World Cup with Argentina in 1986. | Indonesian minister among 17 arrested in corruption probe - Reuters India Posted: 25 Nov 2020 06:09 PM PST  JAKARTA (Reuters) - Indonesia's maritime and fisheries minister was arrested on Wednesday by the country's anti-graft agency, among 17 people detained in simultaneous swoops as part of a probe into alleged corruption in the export of baby lobsters. Edhy Prabowo and his wife, who is a lawmaker, were detained at a Jakarta airport on their return from the United States and 15 others were arrested early on Wednesday at various locations around the capital, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said. The agency said the coordinated arrests were related to its investigation into the export of baby lobsters, which up until the middle of this year was banned as a measure to replenish stocks. Those detained included private sector individuals and government officials, the agency said. Asked about the arrest of one of his cabinet members, President Joko Widodo said his government supported the work of the anti-graft body. Jokowi, as the president is known, was elected in 2014 on a pledge to fight graft and while several prominent politicians have been jailed for corruption, there have been concerns that the clout of the anti-graft body has weakened during his presidency. Edhy Prabowo could not immediately be reached for comment, but the maritime affairs and fisheries ministry said in a statement it would "respect the ongoing process of the law". Earlier this year, the fisheries minister controversially overturned his predecessor's ban on exporting lobster larvae, prompting concerns about conservation. Barcelona icon Lionel Messi, Juventus' Cristiano Ronaldo and Brazilian great Pele were among the footballers to post their best wishes online. Meanwhile Maradona's former clubs Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, Boca Juniors and Napoli all mourned the legends passing. Nine ambulances were sent to his house at 3pm on Wednesday in San Andres, north of Buenos Aires, where the footballer went to live after leaving hospital. He had reportedly taken an early lunch and told his caretaker he was going to take a nap because he was not feeling well. Local reports said one of the nurses caring for him had raised the alarm after discovering he had suffered a suspected heart attack. None of the paramedics who rushed to the house were able to do anything to save him. Jose Mourinho shared a picture of him with the Argentinian on his social media page this evening Maradona's successes made him a global star and a national hero in Argentina but his career was also blighted by controversies on and off the field. His 'Hand of God' goal against England in the 1986 quarter-finals, when he pushed the ball into the net, earned him infamy - although he followed up by scoring the 'goal of the century', a remarkable solo effort, in the same game. His international playing career ended in shame when he failed a drugs test at the 1994 World Cup in the United States and he was notorious for a wayward lifestyle.
