This was almost the perfect week for Kansas City Chiefs fans. The Chiefs beat Denver; our old friend Alex Smith beat the Steelers to give life to the Chiefs’ chance for the No. 1 seed; and the Chargers got blown out as well as shut out.
The only thing that let us down — the New York Jets. Why oh why did you have to let the Raiders win?
This week’s voters were Matt Stagner, Pete Sweeney, Ron Kopp and myself.
1. Kansas City Chiefs (1st)
Well what do you know! Our persistence with the Chiefs staying at No. 1 was indeed a savvy move. This team is clearly the best in the business right now.
2. Pittsburgh Steelers (2nd)
Pittsburgh’s version of the 2013 Chiefs finally lost to the quarterback of the... 2013 Chiefs.
3. Green Bay Packers (4th)
You’re right, Packers fans: Aaron Rodgers has no weapons — Devante Adams and Aaron Jones are just awful.
4. New Orleans Saints (3rd)
Like the Chiefs, all they do is win.
5. Buffalo Bills (7th)
We’re all supporting the Bills this upcoming week, right? Where’s the tables at?
6. Tennessee Titans (5th)
Well, it was nice having you in the top five for one week, Tennessee.
7. Seattle Seahawks (5th)
Headlines from the future: How has Russell Wilson never received an MVP vote?
This past week mi amigos, is why.
8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8th)
I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in the meeting room last week.
9. Baltimore Ravens (9th)
Call me crazy, but I still think that on their day, the Ravens are the second-best team in the AFC.
10. Cleveland Browns (14th) | This week’s high riser
Baker’s knee slide to a photographer pose may be the smoothest thing I have ever seen in my entire life.
11. Los Angeles Rams (10th)
Do we like Jared Goff this week, Rams fans?
12. Indianapolis Colts (12th)
TY Hilton turned back the clocks on Sunday with an excellent display. Fantasy owners will be wondering where this has been all season.
13. Miami Dolphins (13th)
Beating the Joe Burrow-less Bengals doesn’t warrant moving up the rankings, we’re afraid.
14. Arizona Cardinals (11th) | This week’s big faller
The Cardinals have lost three in a row since the miracle play against the Bills.
15. New England Patriots (17th)
FORTY-FIVE TO NIL!
16. San Francisco 49ers (15th)
Utterly outmatched against a very good Bills side.
17. Las Vegas Raiders (16th)
Damn you, Gregg Williams, for taking this away from us. We will never forgive you.
18. Minnesota Vikings (18th)
They just love letting a bad team hang around. I know I’m in the minority, but I love Justin Jefferson’s celebration.
19. Washington Football Team (23rd)
You’re the man, Alex. Thank you.
20. Houston Texans (20th)
JJ Watt cannot wait to get out of Houston and join his brothers in Pittsburgh.
21. Carolina Panthers (19th)
A bye week for the Panthers. It will be interesting to see how they attack the rest of the season.
22. Atlanta Falcons (21st)
On behalf of everyone, please make those throwbacks your full-time home uniform. Glorious.
23. New York Giants (26th)
It’s all gearing up for a Washington vs New York NFC East-decider on Sunday Night Football of Week 17.
24. Los Angeles Chargers (22nd)
Can’t lose a game in heartbreaking way if you’re 28-0 down at half time.
25. Chicago Bears (24th)
At one point, the Bears had a 99.1% chance of winning their game against the Lions.
26. Detroit Lions (27th)
The Detroit Lions are 1-0-0 since firing Matt Patricia.
27. Denver Broncos (25th)
They can have the moral victory; we’ll take the real one.
28. Philadelphia Eagles (28th)
Doug Pederson has finally realized that it’s him or Wentz.
29. Dallas Cowboys (29th)
Excuse me, Mr Jones. I made a 45-yard field goal with room to spare at the Super Bowl experience in Miami. I’m also free on Sundays.
30. Cincinnati Bengals (30th)
Did anyone actually watch their game against the Dolphins?
31. Jacksonville Jaguars (31st)
The perfect tank in Jacksonville. Stellar job.
32. New York Jets (32nd)
I am genuinely lost for words.
