A Connecticut man is accused of repeatedly stalking a former family friend, telling investigators he “loved” her daughter and “God” made him enter her Forks Township home through an unlocked back door.
Michael N. Girgis, 37, of New Hartford, is charged with felony criminal trespass and misdemeanor stalking in the crime this past Friday.
Forks Township police shortly after 5:30 p.m. were called to the 2500 block of Hickory Drive for a reported unwanted guest inside the home. A female victim reported Girgis, identified in court documents as a then “family friend,” allegedly made sexual comments to her daughter and communication was then cut off with him.
Girgis allegedly on multiple occasions has traveled from Connecticut and attempted to enter the home, the victim reported to police. Officers are aware of Girgis on Dec. 19, 2020 arriving at the home and being told by investigators he was “not welcome” and “not to return,” police said.
Girgis this past Friday entered the home through a back, unlocked door and went upstairs to find the victim lying in bed, police said. Four children also were in the home at the time of the incident, according to police.
Girgis allegedly admitted to the crime, acknowledged he is “not permitted there,” and said “God made him come here.” While en route to police headquarters, Girgis continued to say he “loved” the juvenile and drove from Connecticut to “take care of them,” according to police.
Girgis went on to tell investigators God makes him come to the house even through he knows it is “wrong,” police said.
Girgis was arraigned Monday before District Judge Nancy Matos Gonzalez, who set bail at $500,000. In lieu of bail, Girgis was taken to Northampton County Prison.
