'They analysed his soul' - Alien abduction blamed for ex-Boca star missing training - Goal Posted: 15 Jun 2020 11:42 PM PDT Over the years footballers have used countless excuses to explain away late showings at training sessions - but Guillermo Marino's claim that his soul was removed by extra-terrestrials on the way to practice surely sets a new benchmark for players everywhere. Marino came through the ranks at Newell's Old Boys in Rosario and also enjoyed two brief spells at Boca Juniors, but the ex-midfielder's most successful spell came in Chile. As a member of Jorge Sampaoli's Universidad de Chile side at the start of the last decade he lifted three Primera Division titles as well as the 2011 Copa Sudamericana title, starring along the likes of current Leverkusen star Charles Aranguiz, Chile international striker Eduardo Vargas and fellow Roja stalwarts Marcelo Diaz and Eugenio Mena, now at Argentina's Racing Club. The player's spell in Santiago, however, was not without incident, with ex-team-mate Gustavo Lorenzetti explaining that a close encounter with little green men once held him up for one of Sampaoli's sessions. "Guillermo says that he arrived late to one training because he was abducted by aliens," Lorenzetti revealed to Lado B. "He gave us the entire explanation of what he felt and the rest of it. "There are cases where the player says: 'I left and I came back two days later because I was kidnapped by aliens'. But Guille is not that kind of player. Guille was a very proper guy. Everyone knows him." Marino continued to give a graphic account of his abduction, leaving his team-mates in no doubt that he was telling the truth. "He started to explain that he was suddenly lost and abducted by aliens," Lorenzetti continued. "He explained that they take out your soul, analyse it and all the while on the journey they are looking after you. He said something like that. "Honestly I believe in aliens. He gave a great explanation and we'll have to believe him. So other types of channels will have to call him so he can tell it better. But in any case: he was abducted by aliens. "I don't know if Guille would have told [Sampaoli] the same story, honestly. They must have had a chat afterwards. But knowing Guille, I think he must have believed him. What can you say? This is worthy of the Discovery Channel or something." Posted: 15 Jun 2020 10:47 PM PDT SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Pacific Heights resident, James Juanillo says he is waiting on a personal apology from Lisa Alexander and Robert Larkins after they called the police on him for stenciling 'Black lives Matter' onto his property last Tuesday. We met James Juanillo at a local park where he works as a dog walker and reflects on everything he has experienced since posting this video last Thursday. RELATED: Couple who confronts SF man for stenciling 'Black Lives Matter' on his own property apologizes "Well apparently I have a platform now. People have been encouraging me to speak up and have been thanking me for standing up," said Juanillo. A lot has changed since Last Tuesday, when Juanillo was confronted by Pacific Heights residents Lisa Alexander and Robert Larkins for stenciling Black Lives Matter with Chalk on what turned out to be his property. FULL VIDEO: SF Man says white couple called police for stenciling 'Black Lives Matter' on his property Since the video went Viral, Alexander, the CEO of LAFACE skincare products lost her account with BirchBox and issued an apology. Regarding Alexander's apology, Juanillo said, "The regret is setting in. The lesson is hard to learn but it's the natural stage 3 of being a Karen, apparently." The man in the video, Robert Larkins was terminated today by Financial Service firm Raymond James. A day before he also issued an apology. Today Juanillo read it for the first time and said, "Wow that's about as much mea culpa as you can expect. He admitted they called the police," and added, "I will be willing to talk to him. If he express that to me in person, I would forgive both of them." We are also seeing change in the Pacific Heights neighborhood where James juanillos House has become a canvas for the Black lives matter movement. John Newmeyer the owner of the downstairs of the property says he appreciates the community support and doesn't know Alexander who alleged in this video that she knew the owner of the house and questioned Juanillo living there. "Where is it? There it is, we are also activist. In fact I hope to see my neighbors several million dollar given to good causes," said Newmeyer. Juanillos says there are many lessons to be learned including, "Love thy neighbor as you would love thy self." Juanillo is looking forward to hopefully meeting with Alexander and Larkins this week. Two new Covid-19 cases in NZ visited dying parent - Bloomfield - RNZ Posted: 15 Jun 2020 10:08 PM PDT The two new cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand were women aged in their 30s and 40s who visited a dying parent in Wellington under compassionate grounds, Dr Ashley Bloomfield says. Watch here: In a statement released this afternoon, the Ministry of Health said the two new cases were related to the border as a result of recent travel from the UK. The ministry said both cases were connected, but offered little further information, leaving questions for Dr Bloomfield's media briefing. Dr Bloomfield said they were both women aged in their 30s and 40s respectively, and were from the same family. They arrived in New Zealand from the UK on 7 June. "A new case is something we hoped we wouldn't get, but it's also something we expected and have planned for." They traveled from the UK via Doha and then Brisbane. Australian authorities were contacted to trace people in Australia, Dr Bloomfield said. It was uncertain where they became infected. One had mild symptoms, the other was symptom free. As part of their agreed plan under the compassionate circumstances agreement, they were tested in Wellington. Both have since gone into self-isolation in the Wellington region.
Dr Bloomfield said they had applied for an exemption on Friday 12 June to visit their dying parent and were allowed to travel to Wellington in a private vehicle to do so the following day, on 13 June. Their parent died that night. "They were in a managed isolation hotel in Auckland and were permitted on compassionate grounds to leave managed isolation to travel to Wellington via private vehicle." He said there one only one additional family member who may be at risk, and they were being tested and isolated. Other potential contacts included people on the same flight from Brisbane and people who were in or had been in the same managed isolation facility in Auckland, including staff. "There was an agreed plan in place as a part of the approval process for the compassionate exemption and that included the travel arrangements." He said the funeral for the parent would be delayed until family members had completed their next 14-day minimum isolation period. "The family has asked for their privacy to be respected." *See all RNZ coverage of Covid-19 Staff at the managed isolation facility - the Novotel Ellerslie hotel in Auckland - who had contact with the pair would be stood down and tested, Dr Bloomfield said. The pair "must have" had a vehicle that was able to make the journey without stopping for fuel, Dr Bloomfield said, and made the journey without using public facilities. "I won't go into details but there is a lot of empty roadside between here [Wellington] and Auckland." The new cases followed 24 consecutive days with no new cases in New Zealand, and eight days since the recovery of the last active case. Dr Bloomfield said the situation exemplified why compassionate exemptions did not extend to funerals or tangihanga where there might be large groups of people. From now on, people must return a negative result before being allowed an exemption, he said. "We should not be complacent, we should remain vigilant. There is a pandemic raging outside our shores." He said there were several hundred New Zealanders entering the country on most days. "We expected more cases, good thing here is we're maintaining, I believe, what are good rates of testing in the community given we've got very low rates of influenza-like illness in our community." He said contact tracing was good and this would be a good test for it. Stress testing of the contact tracing system would also begin shortly. Footage from women's transit through Customs and Immigration at Auckland Airport was also being reviewed, and any staff at the border who were considered possible close contacts would also be stood down and tested. The new cases bring New Zealand's confirmed cases to 1156, and the combined total of confirmed and probable cases to 1506. New Zealand has had 22 deaths from the virus. Health Minister David Clark said the two new cases showed the importance of having strict controls at the border. He said New Zealand has some of the toughest border controls in the world for a reason. Posted: 15 Jun 2020 09:44 PM PDT SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – Thousands of T-Mobile cellphone customers in cities across the country were experiencing cellphone outages on Monday. The carrier posted a message on its Twitter page confirming the interruption of service impacting more than 100,000 customers.
https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js "Our engineers are working to resolve a widespread routing issue affecting voice & text. Customers may experience longer care wait times. Please try third-party calling apps (FaceTime, WhatsApp, Signal) as a temp solution," said president of technology, Neville Ray in a tweet around 2:45 p.m. Other cellphone carriers were also experiencing outages Monday, though fewer than T-Mobile. According to Down Detector, more than 22,000 customers at Metro PCS, Verizon, AT&T and Sprint customers were without cellphone service Monday afternoon. Verizon downplayed the outage, saying customers were experiencing problems calling T-Mobile. Monday's mass outage has been linked to an unsubstantiated 'Distributed Denial-of-Service,' cyberattack (DDoS) on the United States. Congressman Ted Lieu from California was one of many who shared an image from the site DDoS-tracker Digital Attack Map, showing more than 33 million attacks simultaneous DDos attacks on the U.S.
https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js A DDoS attack seeks to make a network unavailable to its users by flooding or disrupting the services of the host. Such attacks are not uncommon. In 2016, a major DDoS attack affected Twitter, Spotify, Netflix, PayPal and dozens more sites. San Carlos restaurant owners speak out after viral post says they 'condone racism' - KGO-TV Posted: 15 Jun 2020 08:47 PM PDT SAN CARLOS, Calif. (KGO) -- A viral photo surfaced over the weekend accusing owners of a popular San Carlos restaurant of being racist. It all started after a customer eating at Stamp Bar and Grill was seen taunting peaceful demonstrators during a Black Lives Matter protest Saturday afternoon. EXCLUSIVE: Family threatened with violence in Burlingame while wearing 'Black Lives Matter' shirts "The man's behavior was awful," said Sema Tosum, the restaurant owner. "We would never condone any action like that." The past two days Tosum and her family received dozens of death threats after a Facebook post was made Saturday night accusing them of allowing racist behavior. According to the post, a man dining in the outdoor patio was "heckling" and "spewing hateful comments" as the protesters walked by. It goes on to say he then "pulled out a monkey and started mocking the crowd." ABC7 spoke with the restaurant's general manager, who served his table. "I went to the table and told him to shut up and leave immediately," said Mus Caferoglu. RELATED: Artists paint Black Lives Matter mural on Oakland street Comments flooded Facebook and Yelp accusing Caferoglu of high-fiving the man after he made racist comments. "That was misconstrued," he said. "It was just my hand gesture and his hand gesture agreeing that he should shut up and leave immediately." Tosum and her husband Steve have lost half a million dollars amid impacts from COVID-19. "Pandemic over and now we have this," said Steve Tosum. Streaming revolution: Protesters make point with viral video clips - Press Herald Posted: 15 Jun 2020 08:47 PM PDT NEW YORK — Hundreds of protesters marched up Manhattan's Fifth Avenue last week, their signs and chants demanding police reform captured from within their ranks by dozens of camera phones. "This revolution won't be televised!" shouted one protester. "It's going to be streamed!" Citizen footage has played a role in previous protest movements: Rodney King's violent arrest in Los Angeles in 1991 was filmed by a man on his nearby balcony with a camcorder, and images posted to social media were crucial to the Arab Spring and Occupy Wall Street. But the Black Lives Matter movement has been different. Bystander video sparked it, with cellphone-bearing citizens capturing the killings of Eric Garner, Alton Sterling, George Floyd and others. While those high-profile clips showed the extremes of police brutality, the ubiquity of smart phones during nationwide protests in recent weeks has provided a window into protesters' interactions with officers unimaginable to past generations of Americans. Some of the weeks' most jarring videos have been shot by traditional news media, like two Buffalo police officers shoving peace activist Martin Gugino. Many non-TV journalists have used the camera apps on their smart phones, too. But for every encounter captured by reporters, dozens more have been uploaded to social media by protesters and onlookers themselves. Among the most notable: a Philadelphia police officer striking a Temple University student in the head and neck with a metal baton, and a New York City officer shoving a woman to the ground and cursing at her. Both officers are facing charges only after recordings filmed by citizens went viral. Camera phones are allowing protesters to tell their own stories, whether it be through photos or videos on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, or via livestreaming apps like Periscope. Every demonstration in the world is being documented, from New York and London all the way to Holland, Arkansas — population roughly 550. Documentary filmmakers have been out collecting footage, too. Yet, what is resonating most now are videos that offer evidence of police aggression that's helping to disprove police claims and show some Americans a side of law enforcement that black communities have been complaining about for decades. "The only way those folks are ever going to change their mind is to just be overwhelmed with so much evidence that they can't really deny it anymore," said criminal defense and First Amendment lawyer T. Greg Doucette. That's what Doucette hoped to convey when he began compiling footage of aggressive police behavior from the initial days of protests following Floyd's death on May 25. Doucette's Twitter thread now includes over 500 videos from protests nationwide, and his direct messages are inundated with more recordings than he has time to vet. Mathematician Jason Miller has saved the video links in a Google spreadsheet, creating a sortable database cataloging police behavior in the face of a national movement condemning their efforts. "OK, fine, you always tell me that it's just one bad apple," Doucette said of his thinking. "Well, here's at least 10 bad apples. How do you explain that?" Doucette estimated about 80% of the clips he published in the first few days came from non-journalists. Art Acevedo, chief of Houston Police Department and president of the Major Cities Chiefs Association, said he's seen videos from protests around the country, and some — including imagines of Gugino being shoved in Buffalo — have shown clear police misconduct. He also believes many paint incomplete pictures of the interactions. His request: if a bystander is going to upload footage of alleged police misconduct to Twitter, they should send it directly to police departments for review, too. "I think the video sometimes shows one part of the interaction and sometimes it's complete, and sometimes it isn't," Acevedo said. "I think you have to look at it through the prism of objectivity, all of us, and make sure that it actually is comprehensive in terms of what we're looking at." Acevedo acknowledges culture as an issue in policing, but he believes law enforcement is being held to a higher standard than other public-serving systems, like the courts and healthcare, in part because of all those camera phones. "The difference is that policing in the world, and thankfully, is one of the most transparent by design and one of the most transparent because of cell phones," he said. "When we don't do the right thing, more than ever, there's a high likelihood that it will be exposed," he added. "And it will be exposed and spread throughout the country at lightning speed." Crucial as it's proven for accountability, there is still risk for citizens in filming police. Courts have generally ruled that recording officers in public spaces is a right protected by the First Amendment, yet experts and activists say law enforcement has long targeted onlookers with cameras anyway, arresting them on other charges to shut down their recordings. It happened in the 1960s during the Civil Rights Movement, when television crews and civilians had equipment destroyed by authorities. Protest videos show similar actions from the past three weeks, with officers appearing to go after civilians with camera phones. In one video from Denver, an officer leaving a seemingly peaceful scene shot a pepper ball directly into the camera phone of an onlooker. Several hundred protesters in Brooklyn last week were stunned when state Sen. Zellnor Myrie told them New York had no law protecting their ability to film police. That changed last Monday when the state legislature passed a bill guaranteeing that right. Chris Dunn, legal director for the New York Civil Liberties Union, called the legislation an "affirmation" but was skeptical about its actual impact until there's a change in law enforcement culture. "We've brought many false arrest cases on behalf of people filming the police, and there's never been any dispute they're entitled to do it, but they ended up in handcuffs anyhow," said Dunn. Protesters are certainly aware of the power in their pockets. In New York City, where bystander footage showed Garner dying in an officer's chokehold in 2014, it's been sometimes difficult to get sufficient cellular service amid protest groups because so many people are filming and uploading videos to social media. "We've seen videotape revolutionize and expose police accountability now for 15-20 years," Dunn said. "It's absolutely essential to trying to change what's happened to policing in this country." filed under: Related Stories Latest Articles "viral" - Google News June 15, 2020 at 01:51PM https://ift.tt/30LuFIz Streaming revolution: Protesters make point with viral video clips - Press Herald "viral" - Google News https://ift.tt/2BCxygM Shoes Man Tutorial Pos News Update Meme Update Korean Entertainment News Japan News Update

Alabama AG: Mobile illegally removed Semmes monument, pays fine - AL.com Posted: 15 Jun 2020 07:44 PM PDT Mobile violated the 3-year-old Alabama Memorial Preservation Act when it removed a Confederate monument on June 4, and the city has agreed to pay a $25,000 fine. A legal agreement between Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall and the city was released Monday evening that shows the city in agreement with paying the fine for removing the Confederate Navy Adm. Raphael Semmes statue from its longtime perch at Government and Royal streets. Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson announced Sunday that the statue will be permanently located into the History Museum of Mobile. The fine, once collected, will be forwarded to the State Treasurer's Office and placed into the Alabama State Historic Preservation Fund. "Now that the city has acknowledged its intent to remove the monument permanently, the facts surrounding the removal and a plain reading of the law led me to determine that the (Alabama Memorial Preservation Act of 2017) was violated," said Marshall in a statement. "After being notified of that determination, the city has agreed to pay the required fine of $25,000 without a court order." Stimpson, in a statement Sunday, said his team felt that the city had complied with the state law. He said the removal of the statue from public display was "the right thing to do for our community going forward." He said the values represented by the monument, which was installed in 1900, "are not the values of Mobile in 2020." "As a community, we should strive to understand the characters, culture and circumstances that have shaped Mobile and brought us to this crucial moment," Stimpson said. "And while we learn from our past, we should not allow the decision of yesterday to cloud a bright tomorrow for our children." The removal of the Semmes monument occurred while Confederate statues nationwide have served as a flashpoint following civil unrest in cities around the U.S. after the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis by a white police officer. In Birmingham, a massive 52-foot Confederate Sailors and Soldiers memorial in Linn Park was removed on June 1. The removal occurred one day after a May 31 demonstration led to vandalism of the memorial and a vow by Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin that it was going to be taken down. Marshall, on June 2, filed a civil lawsuit saying that Birmingham was on the hook to pay for a $25,000 fine. With Mobile, Marshall's office had been waiting for the city to declare whether the removal of the Semmes monument was temporary or permanent. If temporary, there are provisions within the 2017 state law that allow the city to hold the statue in storage for renovations or repairs. The sandstone base of the Semmes statue in Mobile was vandalized on June 1, occurring around the same time as Birmingham paid contractors to remove the monument to the Confederacy in Linn Park. Mobile officials had red graffiti removed from the monument's base. In a statement last week, Marshall spokesman Mike Lewis said the office "will enforce the law consistently against all violators." Marshall, in a June 5 letter to Stimpson, said the Legislature's "plain intent was to protect and preserve monuments such as the Semmes memorial. Permanent removal is therefore not an 'appropriate measure' that the city make take under state law." The 8-foot-tall Semmes statue shows a mustached Confederate admiral clutching a pair of binoculars in his right hand while standing on a pedestal that has been situated at Royal and Government streets since 1992. In the 1980s, the statue was location about one block away, at Government and Water streets but was put into storage in 1990 while the Arthur R. Pilot ejects safely as Indonesian fighter jet crashes - Chron.com Posted: 15 Jun 2020 07:08 PM PDT
PEKANBARU, Indonesia (AP) — An Indonesian air force fighter jet crashed during a training mission on Sumatra island on Monday, injuring the pilot, who was able to eject to safety, an official said. The pilot was on a solo flight following a routine training mission when the British-built Hawk 200 went down into a residential housing complex in Pekanbaru, the capital of Riau province, said Indonesian air force spokesman Fajar Adriyanto. He said in a statement that the cause of the crash, which happened about 5 kilometers (3 miles) from Pekanbaru's Rusmin Nuryadin air force base, was under investigation. The pilot, who ejected and parachuted to safety and landed on the roof of a house, was taken to a hospital for examination, Adriyanto said. He said the crash did not cause any casualties on the ground. Television news channels showed orange flames coming from the crash site, sending black smoke billowing from the wreckage in a house's backyard. A resident whose home is about 100 meters (320 feet) from the crash site told Kompas TV that he saw flames coming from the fighter jet as it flew very low before crashing into an empty two-story house. "The explosions and blazing from the crash made all the residents run away in fear," he said. The accident comes after the June 6 crash of an Indonesian army helicopter on the main island of Java that killed five of the nine troops on board. Indonesia, a sprawling archipelago nation of about 270 million people, has been plagued by transportation accidents in recent years, including plane crashes and ferry sinkings. The military, which suffers from low funding, has also regularly suffered airplane and helicopter crashes. Sevilla settle for draw after late own goal - Football Paradise Posted: 15 Jun 2020 06:42 PM PDT Sevilla surrendered two points in their bid for Champions League football as an own goal from Diego Carlos earned Levante a late 1-1 draw. A goalless first half was a poor reflection of the away side's dominance but less than a minute after the restart Luuk De Jong found the net. The Dutchman applied the finishing touch for his sixth LaLiga goal of the season, finishing off Munir El Haddadi's cross as Julen Lopetegui's side attacked quickly and decisively. Mid-table Levante took their time to hit back but picked up in the closing stages after Sevilla, who remain third, failed to hammer home their advantage. They still required a helping hand to salvage a point, as a miscommunication between goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik and Carlos saw the latter turn the ball over his own line. There was plenty of late action during the 2-2 draw between Real Betis and Granada too, with three goals in the last five minutes. Carlos Fernandez put Granada ahead just before the half-hour, touching home first time to cap a lightning counter. That was shaping up to be the deciding goal until a frenzy of activity in the closing moments, with Betis levelling through Sergio Canales' penalty then going ahead via Christian Tello's cross-shot. However, former Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado provided a worthy finish when he volleyed home in stoppage-time to restore parity.
Jamel Artis joins TBT team Sideline Cancer - Cardiac Hill Posted: 15 Jun 2020 05:15 PM PDT Jamel Artis joins TBT team Sideline Cancer - Cardiac Hill The 24-team field for the 2020 edition of The Basketball Tournament is set to be announced on Tuesday, and while Pitt will not have an alumni team in the mix, the program will likely have a few alums in the tournament on different teams. One former Pitt star set to take part in the event is Jamel Artis, who joined Sideline Cancer over the weekend.
"Our Sideline Cancer basketball team is excited to welcome Jamel Artis to our family," read a message posted on the team's Twitter page on Sunday afternoon. "We look forward to having the former Pitt standout wearing the purple in [The Basketball Tournament]." Artis spent his entire collegiate career at Pitt, committing to Jamie Dixon in 2013 and finishing his time as a Panther under Kevin Stallings in 2017. Since then, he has moved on to the professional ranks, but he has not forgotten his time in Pittsburgh. "I miss those times at the Peterson Events Center," Artis said in a statement provided to Cardiac Hill. "The Oakland Zoo was amazing. We had a connection that will last forever. I felt disappointed when losing at home in front of them, but they was still amazing." "As for the TBT, this will be my first time playing in this," Artis continued. "I'm excited. I always just watch the TBT on TV, and I'm happy to go out there and compete." Initially, Artis was a member of tournament hopeful Be More City along with former Pitt teammate Aron Nwankwo. However, the team did not develop a large following and was informed on June 5 that it would not make the cut for the tournament. As a result, Artis found a new team in Sideline Cancer, which ended the run of the Zoo Crew, a Pitt alumni squad, in the first round of the 2017 tournament. With that said, the Untouchables, a Pitt alumni team that preceded the Zoo Crew, knocked Sideline Cancer out in the first round of the 2016 tournament, so Pitt alums and the purple-clad team have a history. And as for Sideline Cancer, the team has been in every edition of The Basketball Tournament, which dates back to 2014, and as such, it is widely regarded as a likely selection on Tuesday. In addition, the team is not just competing to entertain fans during a global crisis, but also to achieve a greater goal as outlined by Sideline Cancer general manager Billy Clapper. "Each year of TBT, the Sideline Cancer basketball team has come together to play," Clapper said on Sideline Cancer's TBT page. "And what we have played for is something bigger. We are playing to raise awareness, to inspire the next generation of what they can use their gifts to be, and we believe always that one day a cure will be found." Aside from Artis, Sideline Cancer currently consists of former Xavier shooting guard Remy Abell, former Santa Clara shooting guard Raymond Cowells III, former Indiana shooting guard Maurice Creek, former Oklahoma power forward Andrew Fitzgerald, former East Stroudsburg small forward Duane Johnson, former Central Michigan point guard Marcus Keene, former Tennessee Tech small forward Kevin Murphy, former Pacific center Eric Thompson and former Southeastern Louisiana power forward Zwencyl Upson. Since leaving Pitt, Artis has had stints in the G League and NBA as a member of the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Clippers organizations. He also spent the 2017 and 2018 offseasons with the New York Knicks and Sacramento Kings organizations, respectively, but Artis never saw significant action with either team. As a result, the Baltimore native decided to ply his trade overseas last season and had a solid run in Paris with Metropolitans 92 of France's LNB Pro A. Artis averaged 13.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game over a total of 27 games of which he started 26. Should Sideline Cancer be selected on Tuesday, Artis will likely play a key role in the team's success as the only former Division I small forward on the roster. In addition, he should form an interesting pairing with Fitzgerald, a fellow Baltimore native and a former recruit of current Pitt head coach Jeff Capel's from his time at Oklahoma. 2020-06-15 17:05:00Z https://www.cardiachill.com/2020/6/15/21290247/jamel-artis-tbt-team-sideline-cancer-2020-the-basketball-tournament-pitt-panthers-alum-paris-forward

Updates to border measures for travellers entering Singapore - Gov.sg Posted: 15 Jun 2020 05:08 PM PDT On 15 June 2020, the Government announced changes to border measures as we progressively re-open to international travel. These border measures take into account the current understanding of COVID-19, as well as the developments in other countries and regions. No need to serve Stay-Home Notice at SHN facilities for travellers from some countries/regions Since 21 March 2020, all incoming travellers – including Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and Long Term Pass holders – have been required to serve a 14-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN). From 17 June 2020, 2359 hours, all travellers entering Singapore and who had remained in the following countries/regions in the last consecutive 14 days prior to entry, will no longer have to serve their SHN at dedicated SHN facilities:
All persons under SHN must remain in their place of residence at all times. They will be subject to close monitoring of their whereabouts, through electronic monitoring as well as physical spot-checks. Strict enforcement action will be taken against those who breach the requirements of the SHN. From 17 June 2020, 2359 hours, all incoming travellers entering Singapore will be tested for COVID-19. This is an additional precautionary measure to detect the virus, especially given the risks of asymptomatic cases. The test will be scheduled a few days before the end of the SHN period, at a designated community testing facility. Each person under SHN will receive an SMS notification informing them of the scheduled appointment slot and venue. They will have to travel from their place of residence to the designated testing facilities, and return immediately after the test, using their own private vehicle or designated transport. Public transport should be avoided. The Government has thus far borne the costs of stay at dedicated SHN facilities for travellers entering Singapore, except for those who left Singapore from 27 March 2020, despite the prevailing travel advisory. The Government has also borne the costs of the large majority of COVID-19 tests. As we-reopen our borders to more international travel, those who enter Singapore would have to bear the costs of fulfilling these requirements, as part of the cost of travel in a COVID-19 world. From 17 June 2020, 2359 hours, all inbound and outbound travellers who enter or leave Singapore will be required to pay for their COVID-19 tests, where applicable. From 17 June 2020, 2359 hours, all incoming travellers who are not Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents will be required to pay for their stay at dedicated SHN facilities, where applicable. The prevailing charges are summarised below:
Summary of border measures and COVID-19 tests
@ As of 15 June 2020, this comprises the Singapore-China Fast Lane. # Short-term visitors granted special prior approval to enter Singapore (except under established Green / Fast Lane arrangements) are subject to the same treatment with regard to SHN and test requirements, and charges, as Long Term Pass holders. Updated Travel Advisory for Singaporeans All Singaporeans and residents of Singapore are still advised to defer all travel abroad. However, essential business and official travel will be permitted under Green / Fast Lane arrangements – as of 15 June 2020, this comprises the Singapore-China Fast Lane. Travel Advisory for Long Term Pass holders and Short-term Visitors All Long Term Pass holders will continue to require prior approval before entering Singapore - except for those returning under the Singapore-China Fast Lane arrangements, as separate arrangements would have been put in place for this group. As the global and local health situations improve, the Government has gradually increased the number of entry approvals given to Long Term Pass holders, especially those with deep roots to Singapore or have exigent circumstances. We expect to be able to facilitate the re-entry of more Long Term Pass holders in the coming weeks. We will also study how to facilitate business travels, in particular for professionals based in Singapore who need to travel frequently as part of their work, with the necessary safeguards. At the moment, short-term visitors are still not allowed entry into Singapore, except those coming in under the Green / Fast Lane arrangements, or with special prior approval. As Singapore's border measures will evolve as the global situation changes, please check the MOH website for the latest updates.
