- Heavy rain was falling across northern New Hampshire and Vermont.
- Reports say flood water entered the waiting room at Cottage Hospital.
Floodwaters have entered a hospital and washed out several streets in northern New Hampshire.
The National Weather Service reported the flooding Tuesday morning in Woodsville, a community in the town of Haverhill, New Hampshire, about 140 miles northwest of Boston. The NWS said the water had entered the hospital's waiting room.
A flash flood warning was issued for parts of Grafton, Carroll, Coos and Belknap counties.
An upper-level low-pressure system triggered slow-moving thunderstorms with heavy rain over the mountainous terrain of northern New Hampshire and northern Vermont, according to weather.com senior meteorologist Jon Erdman.
Chief Brandon Alling of the Haverhill Police Department said the flooding had washed away some backroads and caused erosion on the shoulders of others.
Some residents reported water in their basements, Alling said. He also confirmed that water had entered a room at Cottage Hospital, but he did not know which room.
We have reached out to hospital officials and will update the story when we hear back from them.
