The Lithuanian authorities have announced that arrivals from all countries will continue to be subject to strict entry rules as no changes have been made to the list of affected countries.

Lithuania categorises countries into four different lists – green, yellow, red and grey, and black – based on their epidemiological risk.

However, since the COVID-19 situation hasn’t improved in any of the countries, it has been revealed that all European Union/Schengen Area and third countries will remain part of the red and grey list until January 30, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

In line with the current rules that Lithuania has, all unvaccinated and unrecovered travellers who reach its territory from one of the countries that is part of the red and grey list must take a pre-entry test.

Apart from the testing requirement, all travellers from the red and grey area who haven’t been vaccinated or recovered from the virus must stay self-isolated for seven days upon their arrival in Lithuania.

“All countries of the world remain in the red and grey zone, and unvaccinated and non-sick (or sick earlier than 180 days) people coming from abroad must be tested for COVID-19 immediately before the trip and isolate seven days after entry into the Republic of Lithuania,” the statement of the Lithuanian Ministry of Health reads.

All travellers are also advised to take another PCR or rapid antigen test at their own expense three days after arrival. Nonetheless, it has been explained that this recommendation does not apply to persons who have tested positive within the last 90 days.

In addition to the rules mentioned above, all persons, regardless of their vaccination status or country of origin, must fill out an entry form within 48 hours before entering Lithuania.

Lithuania itself is also currently categorised as a dark red country by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). Last week, the EU Health Agency announced through its latest update of maps that all countries within the European continent are currently dealing with increased COVID-19 infection rates.

According to the data provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), Lithuania has reported 35,572 new infection cases only in the last seven days. Such numbers suggest that the country’s infection rates have been increasing rapidly.

As for the vaccination rate, the figures from ECDC show that Lithuania has administered a total of 4,340,107 COVID-19 doses.

According to the same, 80.6 per cent of Lithuania’s entire adult population has received at least a single dose, 78.1 per cent have been fully vaccinated, and another 35.1 per cent have received an additional dose, also known as a booster shot.
